Hello,

I really appreciate it if someone can help me get this game running on my Apple II gs. The URL link to download the page and see what the game is, right here: http://www.rome.ro/games_dangerous_dave.php. I will provide you my scenario: I download the game and run it on AppleWin and it works 100%, I take the same .dsk image and go with ADT Pro transfer, I hook my Apple IIgs on, I run the ADT Pro in the Apple II gs, I press R for receiving, I enter dangerous_dave.dsk and it asks which disk to transfer the image to. I select my disk and wait for the 280 to complete transfer. When I boot up with my Apple IIgs, it refuses to load the game and I get assembly error, you know the typical error of an Apple II when it doesn't work:

DG=0, etc, etc, etc.

If after the transfer I type PR#6, the disk keeps doing tac, tac, tac, tac, tac, tac, as if it is PR#6 in an infinite loop, but the same game runs on the AppleWin. If you guys could try to resolve the problem from your end and tell me your solution IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. Thank you guys for everything in advance.

I experimented with the image a little bit. It looks like the disk trashes itself somewhat after you first play it, as far as I can tell. While AppleWin can continue to work with it, neither Kegs nor Virtual ][ will. Nor will your real hardware, as you found out. This is the work of John Romero, after all. It looks like the image on your site was uploaded after having been played.

I used CiderPress to create a new 143k ProDOS floppy, copied over all the files from the original, and was able to transfer and boot that with both a GS and a IIe.

Thank you so much it worked! I knew there is nothing wrong with my Apple IIgs. I knew it! I knew it is the best Apple II computer ever made my Apple, it beats all the other Apple II series on the butt! I love the game so much and my head swim when I see the graphics, there is SOMETHING ABOUT THE APPLE II graphic output that gives me a big smile and relaxation that no other system gives.
