Hello!

At present, I am modified Quadra700 of CPU from 25MHz to 33, 35, 37.5, and 40Mhz

The 66MHz frequency has been obtained, but 70, 75, 80Mhz is hard to obtain.

I asked the Japanese specialty store, but it costs about 120 dollars for each type of 5 types of special order.

Digikey, mouser also confirmed, but there is no inventory. Can someone sell me the crystal oscillator?

Someone here came up with contact info for Marc Schrier and/or Output Enablers.   Google on "Marc Schrier's Clock Chipping Home Page" for more background.  Anyway, Output Enablers hasn't been active in a while, but apparently, they're still willing to sell old left over stock.   And their stock consisted mainly of oscillators.

Shipping to Japan will be pricey, but probably considerably less than $120.  Main issue will be whether they still have the oscillator speeds that you want.

I think that was me (recently I think anyway). Yes, he's still around, as far as I know and that contact email on the site should be up to date! Not sure what shipping would be to JP.
He was the source for the through-hole crystals/oscillators, as Mouser and DigiKey are perpetually out of the 66.666 or whatever for 33 MHz operation. Haven't seen any on ebay (while I was looking months ago now).

Your mileage may vary, as they say, but I could not get stable operation above 33 MHz, even with a fully-qualified MC68040RC40 CPU replacing the stock 25 MHz chip. From what I've read about the various models, the Quadra 700 just doesn't overclock well. I mean, I suppose 33 is a decent bump over 25, but a Quadra/Centris 650 (with some SMD swapping on the Centris) can go to 40 a lot easier, and not even lose serial port functionality.

Thank you all for the information!

I will search for google information and review the clockup kit.

The latest contact information is also very helpful.

It's an interesting information that the Quadra 700 clockup limit is 33Mhz. I have two Q 700.

One is trying to put a PPC card and try how fast it will be. And the other is challenging the limits of speed at 68040.

Perhaps the design of the motherboard cannot be more than 33Mhz. HDD's transmission speed is 33Mhz and it's late. Also, FDD does not work right.

All I can do is strengthen the cooling. Anyway, the result of the experiment will be reported here again.

Thank you!

I also challenge Amiga 4000 Restore using the same CPU. I think it's going to be a good time at the end of the year.
