7.5 and games should run fine in ~24-32 megs of ram, likely with room to spare. I have a Quadra running 8.0 or 8.1 on 24 megs and it's basically fine for the system 7 era stuff I run on it.

I don't typically max out my own machines, mostly because I'm cheap and lazy, but I know lots of people like to have things tiptopped, even if it's not necessary for how they use the thing, so some of this will just come down to what your aesthetic preferences are.

Agree completely. Only reason I have mine maxed out is because I could. Also helped that memory is still somewhat cheap, so I could get it without breaking the bank. Will I need it? No, probably not.

Happy medium for a IIci is probably 32MB or so. Enough for most 7.x apps, but not enough to make you feel bad for running the computer in 24-bit mode for games like Arkanoid, and other games that aren't 32 bit adressing friendly.
