Drivers for Adaptec AUA-3020 Firewire/USB PCI card

I can't seem to locate any Mac software for this card anywhere despite the manual mentioning at the very least an extension for preventing deep sleep. Any chance someone has the original CDRom for one of these laying around. I've got it in my Beige G3 tower and it seems to be working for USB but FireWire is iffy. It originally detected my 2nd Gen iPod, but it won't detect my external Seagate USB2/FW800 HDD except over USB. Hoping the software might help narrow down the flakiness.

Also, if anyone else has one of these, does the card require molex power? It has a connector on the back but the manual makes no mention of it... it appears that maybe there's two versions of the card?

If the card has a molex connector, it probably does, as it's likely that bus-powered devices (and thus your external FW800 hard drive) won't work without it being hooked up to something.

The drive has it's own power connector so shouldn't need to be drawing any power from the ports on the machine anyway (which the iPod did, and worked, but odd).

The card itself doesn't use any extensions apart from the standard Apple enablers.  I've seen at least three different revisions of the 3020 card in a hunt I undertook for TAM compatible cards a few years back and the cards I had worked fine without the additional power connected.

Question though, are you running OS9 or some flavor of OS X?  The annoying bit with FW devices under OS 9 is that they aren't hot-pluggable on these cards, you have to plug them in at boot or they aren't recognized (or if they are, it's unstable and you could end up with data corruption).  I know I read that somewhere (and experienced data corruption first hand) I just don't remember where.

There are two PDFs on the Adaptec site: https://adaptec.com/en-us/support/_eol/combo/aua-3020/

 1. User Guide: https://adaptec.com/en-us/support/_eol/combo/aua-3020/_docs/aua_3020_ug_pdf.htm?nc=/en-us/support/_eol/combo/aua-3020/_docs/aua_3020_ug_pdf.htm

 2. Install Guide: https://adaptec.com/en-us/support/_eol/combo/aua-3020/_docs/aua_3020_ig_pdf.htm?nc=/en-us/support/_eol/combo/aua-3020/_docs/aua_3020_ig_pdf.htm

There is an installer mentioned on pg 30 of the User Guide. the extension is called DuoConnect DisableSleep driver

I have an Adaptec FireWire installer CD around somewhere. If I find it, I'll let you know.

Ahhhh! This may be my issue then... or at least part of it. I am running OS 9 as it's in a beige G3, not the speediest of OS X machine, and I was probably plugging it in after boot... I don't recall... I'll have to make sure to try that.

Yeah I found their support pages and documentation which is what triggered this search for software. If you do find it, I'd appreciate it.
