Delock Converter 2.5 IDE HDD 44 pin > SATA 22 pin with white residue

I bought from my country a converter which is sold in Germany too.

It has white spots near the soldering points. The spots are solid, intrerupted, like a dried bakings soda. It doesen't have punctures or parts that are loose.

Can you please give me a advice for this ? Should i replace it ? I bought it to check my PowerBook 150 hdd in a newer system with SATA.

I'd just clean it with a toothbrush and alcohol, wait 5 minutes, and then use it.

The sticker signifies that it was Quality Control Passed, so one has to assume that it was plugged in and tested at the factory, even if the makers did not rise to the level of washing the thing off once it was soldered together. Cheaply made, but it should work.

That's probably flux. Should be decently cleanable with isopropyl alcohol, but it is indeed a sign of poor manufacturing standards. Sending it back for a replacement might be the safest option if you're willing to wait with whatever project you're using this for, though.

Yep, flux. Per above cleaning directions. Also, if "QC Passed" I would not attempt to return and get a better one, since its obvious their "QC" is just concerned with function, or doesn't exist and is just a sticke. Either way, there is no reason to believe that you will get a better quality piece with return.

Good helping words. I made a video i will post here that shows that the convertor is working. The hdd makes the same sounds in the convertor as it did in PowerBook 150. My windows 7 ultimate pc won't recognise it in bios and windows, but being that the sounds are the same, i can say that the convertor works.
