My work has a lot of surplus machines (from customers upgrading), so I asked if I could take home one of the old (2003-vintage) Dell servers we had. Permission was granted. This machine is going to be running NetBSD and distcc to help out my poor little LC 475.
As for other goodies, I found two relatively new 18GB Seagate 15k SCSI drives in one of the servers. Since I've been looking for a solution to my 475's drive noise woes that wouldn't cost too much, this was a happy surprise -- these are newer 15k drives with FDB motors, and as such are nearly inaudible when powered up.
All in all, a good catch, I think.
