compact bezel replacement

I tried searching but failed.

Can someone tell me how deep I have to go to remove the bezel of a compact mac?

(The SE is in question.)

I know that the CRT is mounted on it, but does the A/B have to come out as well as the PSU?

Thanks

Hi,

You pretty much have to take everything off, unfortunately.

You start with the logic board, then the drives, then the analog board, then the CRT, and finally, the chassis (which should be held in place by five Torx screws).

The speaker is held on by two plastic rivets, which you need to cut away with a utility knife, then you can lift it off with it's rubber gasket.

Once you've done it once or twice, it gets pretty easy.

Actually, once you can get to the torx screws on the chassis and CRT, you can pull the CRT and AB off together as a unit (I try to disconnect the CRTs as few times as possible; too much fragile junk in there), and then popping off the chassis is obvious.

krye, do you know when your SE was manufactured? Mine has the signatures inside the case, and my logic board shielding is different. Also I have a socketed PRAM battery.

Don't most compacts other than the Classic series have those signatures (or some variation thereof)?

Most of mine do, anyway (I'd have to go look to be sure).

Anyway, Krye's article is very good, with lots of helpful information.

May I ask why you're doing this? Is it just for educational purposes (i.e. for future reference).

I'm going to switch my SE into another case because I have plans for the original jacked up modified front bezel :-D
