CD Audio on Macintosh Classic II

Have a SCSI CD-ROM player for my Classic II. Here are the specs for my machine:

  • - 10 MB RAM
    - 80 MB Hard Drive
    - OS 7.5.5

The machine's sound works fine, so I can get the usual sound effects out of it. When I play the Apple CD Player, you can see the tracks on the screen, and the LED on the CD-ROM player as the music is playing. However, you can hear no music coming from the computer speaker itself.

So, does that mean you can hear music CDs only if you have a speaker or headphones plugged into the CD-ROM player headphone jack ... or am I missing something?

nope your not missing anything.

Machines like the Quadra 610 had Audio pass-through, from the internal cd drive.

( To get cd audio patched into the main sound system )

but externally you have the head phone jack or on the back some ROM's had L and R RCA out jacks.

now if you wanted to make a RIG you could get a RCA to 3.5mm female audio jack then get a 3.5mm male to male audio cable and connect it into the mic port.

get the cd audio on the internal speaker of your " Enhanced Audio" Classic II :)

Okay, thanks much!

Did what you suggested (image), but still get no music from the Classic II speaker. Is there a program I must run to hear what my CD-ROM player is piping into the Classic II?
