100% I'm a firmware engineer and I work with some prickly engineers so I'm used to it. But they have all more than earned it, they also aren't public-facing individuals either.....
Eric takes any bad review of anything he does as a personal insult, though. The man cannot take even very mild criticism.
I can feel for the guy creating something and have it criticized. No matter how much someone says it's not personal, it is always personal because you made it. However, open source is a philosphy and way of being. Criticism is part of that.

Thing is that a lot of those things (Zulu, scsi2sd, ...) are hard to come by if you're not US based.
So, long shipping times, taxes, custom clearance fees etc tend to make those US based things pretty darn expensive.
Which is why all my scsi emulators are bluescsi's, easy, cheap and superfast to get in Europe and no shipping hassles at all!
