Asanté Ethernet to SCSI - Power adapter question

Hello,

I recently found my Asanté En/Sc (Ethernet to SCSI adapter) - but I'm looking for it's power adapter. But I did find some AC adapters that fit the socket. The voltage may match on some, I have a list of them below. I'm wondering if you think any would work with this. Of course if not I'll leave it alone since I don't want to damage anything. :-/ Still I was just wondering.

Here is the model I have with a photo of it, and here is what I assume would be it's matching AC adapter. Any help would be great, if not I'll just leave it alone until I find it's adapter. However I remember my old Newton ran off a Sega Genesis AC adapter fine. [] ]'>

Asante Adapter - Input 115VAC 60Hz 30W, Output 12VAC 1.25A - the one I'm trying to match.

AC adapter 1 - Input 120V 60Hz 27W, Output 12VDC 1300mA

AC adapter 2 (Iomega Zip 100) - Input 120V 60Hz 13W, Output DC 5V 1A

AC adapter 3 (Apple Low-Power AC) - Input AC 100-240V 50/60 Hz 31-40VA, Output DC 7.5V 2 0A (Input 0.5A)

AC adapter 4 (Sega Model 1 Genesis) - Input 120V AC 60Hz 20W, Output 10V DC 1.2A

AC Adapter 5 (Iomega Zip Plus) - Input 100-240V~ 50/60Hz 15VA, OUTPUT DC 5.0V 1.0A

Of the ones you listed, only the very first one is worth trying. Give it a shot and see. It shouldn't hurt anything (you're lucky that the unit normally accepts AC -- this one happens to have a full-wave rectifier at its input, so a DC adapter won't harm anything).

EN/SC adaptors have got to be one of the best 68K Mac peripherals about, in my opinion. They open up so many opportunities!

Those ethernet adapters are terrific little boxes, aren't they? You'll never be able to tolerate a dialup modem again!

Doesn't the 180 use a HDI30 Scsi connector instead of the 25 pin on the Asante EN/SC?

What browser is that? I can't seem to load up a bunch of sites in MacWeb, WannaBe can't enter text into fields as well as not being able to load sites and Mosaic is slow.

I'm not sure what browser it is in the photo, but I can suggest if you're trying to get a similar 68030/040 Mac online, try iCab version 2.9.9 (68K). It's pretty slick and is able to handle a fair amount of sites, even some of the more complex ones.

It looks like Netscape 2 to me. It's probably the best choice for a really old browser.

It supports most of the simple things you expect, like pictures and tables and forms, but is so old it ignores most of what wouldn't be well-supported anyway, like CSS.

Also, it's rockingly fast.

Yes it was either Netscape 2 or 3. I was using IE 2.1 but that stopped working and this seemed to load things nicer as well.

I have a couple of questions, as I have one of these units here (without the adapter) and am wondering if it would be worthwhile getting it going by buying an adapter with appropriate specs.

What's the speed/ stability like? Can it be daisy-chained in normal scsi fashion? Does it require a software Extension?
