An idea of how much things cost

There is an auction in Switzerland which lists the bill items of a Macintosh IIsi and accessories bought in 1991.

I'll have a look around for a reasonable conversion rate of the Swiss Frank as it was in 1991.

The auction, in case anyone is interested, is here: https://www.tutti.ch/de/vi/basel/computer-zubehoer/computer/macintosh-mit-zubehoer/23827093

The price tag is 10x higher than what I'd pay for what she's offering though.

What a nice post! It is amazing when you look at those prices how expensive our vintage gear once was. And explains why its hard to find hardware today as it was for the rich happy few back then...

Converting this invoice into today's money? Probably it will scare the hell out of you! Actually, this is funny that you mention it! Looking for information, drivers, advise etc. for my just acquired IIfx, I found this old 1992 ad from SuperMac. Same story I guess when you apply correction for inflation. I for instance never realized the prices one had to pay for a top of the line 24 bit accelerated NuBus card and 21" colour RGB... Close to $ 8,000 (!). See the add witch states the 'affordable prices'... Yeah right! Add a Quarda 950 and whoops! $ 20,000. With just 4 Mb RAM... I remember back in those days, memory costed roughly $ 40 per Mb. What would that be in 2018 money? It makes the todays iMac Pro a steal, even maxed out!

And for those of us who have a maxed out II or Quadra, here's some fun info to put memory prices into perspective: https://jcmit.net/memoryprice.htm

AA, it's nice to see such an old invoice of the IIsi. And hey, in the end she got a pretty sweat deal: it included a free mouse pad (perhaps with a big dealer logo printed on it)!!!

I did not keep the bill, but I still have the 88 price list... and the Mac :)  (updated to IIfx 2 years later).
