68k Debian Linux Unstable

Hey All..

I'm running Debian 3.1 (Sarge) on my LC475 with 36 megs of ram.. I have tried a few different kernels, but all have the same issue.. The system will randomly crash after being up for a few hours. Here is my configuration:

68040 Full CPU 25mhz

36 MB ram (4 onboard and 32 meg Dimm)

2 GB hard drive

Apple PDS 10BaseT Ethernet (SONIC)

Boot:

Use Pengiun 19 to boot to Linux from OS 8.1 with minor set of extensions

Kernels:

2.2.25-mac - Will boot and run fine on Debian 3.1 but I get a LOT of error messages from eth0 buffer.. I think this causes stability issues (ethernet)

2.6.24-1-mac - Will boot, takes longer to boot and eats up more memory. Feels more stable, but will eventually just stop responding

Software:

Base image loaded with apache, SSHD and a few other small utilities..

Anyone have any suggestions??

First, I would add the source for eth-m68k and do a dist-upgrade, seconed, Theres a kernel I had to use to get any use at all out of my Q650, I'll dig it up off my server.

Linux on m68k is pretty shitty. They have better X windows support than the BSDs, but NetBSD is WAAAY faster, and more stable, atleast on my hardware. Just a thought

NetBSD has pretty good X Windows support if you don't need color. But there is an old package floating around that will give you a color X environment in NetBSD.

Yes. It's from the 1.4 or 1.5 days, but still works just fine in 4.0. Some recent framebuffer development looked like it promised being able to use the regular X distribution, which would be very cool.

Hi, I have got an LC475, too, and I'd like to install linux on it. Unfortunately i can't find the debian install files on the net: where did you get them ?
