660AV, getting no video output through VGA adapter

Yeah, it works reliably now without a battery (well, for the past half an hour), but I’ll order a battery just to keep it happy longer-term.

It‘s been a while, but I think without a battery, I was often able to get my 660av to show video by rapidly power cycling it a few times after it was first plugged in. It was super weird and erratic. I’m confident the 660av is one that needs a battery for reliable video. Apple says so at the link above, and I saw it with my own eyes too. :)
Yeah, its quite likely - I meant the 610 specifically. I was criticising myself given I said something that wasn't true even though I was using a 610 without a battery literally yesterday.

Haha, nice! I can see how you'd think it at first though...it's right in the same form factor as the other two that are affected.

I would guess that the longer you leave it turned off, the more likely it'll be that the video acts up again. Or maybe now that you've got it working it'll stay reliable until you unplug it from power again. Anyway, awesome!

Thanks @Forrest and @shadedream ! Any specific recommendations for a multisync adapter without DIP switches, from e.g. Amazon or eBay? Just like in the old days, there are a gazillion adapters to choose from… Getting a specific recommendation would be very helpful.
I have one that looks exactly like this that I use with all of my multisync machines: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144859122878

Seems priced a little high so there may be someplace else to find one cheaper.

The one I’m using is very thin - it’s only 1/4 inch thick. I got it many years ago after purchasing a new, expensive 15 inch multi sync monitor, and requested it from the company’s customer service department.

There isn't anything wrong with their existing adapter. They don't need to be buying one. Let's see what happens with a battery.
