This question covers a lot of territory, but I'm sticking it in software because I suspect that's where the problem lies.
I have managed to get System 7.5.3 (PB520) and 9.2.2 (G3 iMac) to talk to each other using an AAUI transceiver, a Cat 5 crossover cable, turning file sharring on on the PB...
Based entirely on keyboard quality and nothing else, what one was better?
I know people rave about the keyboard on the 1400, but I've heard the Wallstreet was good too.
I have a Powerbook 520. You must FEAR this 520, for it has a blazing fast 25mhz 68LC040 processor and a swank 16 shade passive matrix B&W screen.
You must all bow before it!
Special thanks to forum member racepres who sold it to me. :)
Anyways, it's a pretty good cosmetic condition, but...
I have an old 40 gig HD in a firewire enclosure that I want to reformat and repartition. OS 9 Drive Setup sees it on the FW bus, and it can be read and written to, but Drive Setup reports that it's not supported for initialization. Is there any workaround for this?
I recently found a good deal on a B&W Power Mac. The problem is that it's a Rev A.
I know that these had some serious problems with the IDE bus for the hard drive. My question is whether a SATA PCI card can be booted off of, thus bypassing that problem and PATA drives altogether?
So I was running Norton System Info on my iMac G3 and I found out, much to my surprise, that the system benchmarks only slightly less that a G4 at 500 Mhz in terms of CPU and FPU performance. It also slightly beats a 450 Mhz G4 cube. My iMac is running 9.2.2, and the comparison machines were...
Cameron is doing some excellent work on a web browser, and I recently discovered the program icWord that allows viewing of modern Word documents. Here's a wishlist of features I wish existed:
- Modern Flash player. Even though it might be speed limited.
- The ability to view Adobe Acrobat...
The other day I was playing around on my G3 iMac (see sig), and the Finder suddenly goes crazy; repeatedly saying that it needs my attention. It then flashes an error about not having a valid system folder. Unable to do anything, I hard reset, and sure enough it can't find a system to mount.
I...
Just out of curiosity, did the slot load iMacs that came with DVD drives have special decoder hardware? Or was the decoding hardware integrated into the Rage 128 graphics chipset?
I am wondering if it's possible to play DVD movies if I salvage a sloat load and install it in my CD equipped...
Okay, I'm stumped on this one. I've torn apart my 350Mhz Idigo because I plan on robbing it for parts in case my 500, or another machine I'm hoping to get, goes down (hopefully not). The case is completely disassmbled. However, I'm having a bitch of a time figuring how the speakers are attached...
Finds at the Goodwill across the street from where I work:
Apple Extended USB (white) for $5, in excellent condition.
Apple Pro Mouse (white) for $4, in excellent condition.
USB Zip 250 Drive (looks barely used) for $4.
Everything works perfectly.
On another day I went, there was an Indigo...
Evening Gents,
This my first post. The retro Mac bug has bit me. I own two iMacs that I perchased from forum member Mike Richardson, and I love them dearly.
I don't know where else to put this, so I figure I'll try posting it in the RetroChallenge forum, since it's kinda a Retro Challenge I'd...
