I bought a parts Wallstreet a while back, and it came with a working system battery that lasts over 3.5 hours, if you can believe that. I found that even with a working system battery and dead PRAM battery, the delay is still there. Just a note if you decide to try that route.
Ditto. The card is pretty cheap as well. I *was* using my Geforce 3 in my Sawtooth (mine's a 450mhz), but I got another Cube, so it went in there. That card, however, is a unicorn these days, and is VGA/ADC only.
Be aware that if you decide down the road to buy/use a 20" or larger (or is it 23"? Mine is a 23") Apple ADC monitor that you'll need a beefier video card in your Cube; something with at least 32mb of video RAM. The ATI Rage that comes stock won't cut it. I power mine with a Geforce 3; a card...
I have a Radeon 9200 in my 450mhz Sawtooth that works with both OS 9 and OS X. I think I paid $15 for it on eBay. I have a ADC to DVI (or is it the other way around? I always forget) adapter to run my Cinema Display with it, though.
Just for giggles, I’m having my Bondi CPU card upgraded with a 400mhz G4 processor and possibly an upgraded L2 cache chip (if the experiments are successful). It’s a bit costly, and I don’t know if the guy doing it wants interested parties directed his way just yet, but I’ll check with him if...
Have you tried running a game that switches to 256 colors when run? For instance, give the original Hexen or the Vectorama emulator a try. Both will prompt you to switch to 256 colors, then click yes to see if it will do so.
As did I...
As am I... :)
All great advice, but I would also add- be VERY careful with the headers holding the trackpad, speaker, and power connectors when removing them. I ruined my first iBook G4 by not being careful enough, and the solder points were so oxidized that the trackpad header...
For those interested, I've gathered all of the working Classilla themes that I could find, via Wayback Machine and other random sites that still exist, and put them all up on a page so others could install or download them if they so desire. I included shots of each theme and a javascript...
If they weren't so bulky, I'd attempt to collect one of each. I'll stick to my upgraded Bondi Rev B for my Classic MacOS needs, as I barely have enough room for all of the notebooks and Powermacs I own...
I like to also replace the horizontal output transistor when changing out a flyback. Although it's probably not necessary, both are usually the first parts to go bad in a CRT monitor. I've recapped and repaired hundreds of old arcade game monitors, and learned quickly to change both out, as the...
I recently bought 2-333mhz cards for my Bondi. One of them will be staying at it's rated speed; the other will be used in an attempt to overclock it to 400mhz. That 100mhz boost does make a difference. Hopefully my overclocking attempt is successful.
Here you go. It took me quite a while to find this back when I needed it for my Beige G3. Now I'm glad I kept it...
I couldn't upload it here for some reason (probably since I'm new here/long time lurker), so I upped it to my web space...
