I picked up a free HP mini tower from a local church that was giving it away.
733mhz celeron (going to be replaced w/ a 1.2ghz PIII)
64mb ram
30gb hard drive
CDRW
Windows ME COA
I think I'll turn it into a NAS device for backing up all my files. It has a very small case, but still weighs...
Wow, excellent news!
I wish the people I talked to would be more willing to let me do things like that.
There is an e-waste event at the local high school around here this weekend so maybe I'll pop by and see what there is. Unfortunately, all of those small companies that collect stuff like...
I like the 6400, but I think it has the most terrible video card of all macs built in standard. Your lucky you have the PCI one.
I've owned five 6400s over the years, and I'm now down to one:
300mhz g3, 168mb ram, 10gb hard drive.

I have completely dismantled a G3 AIO before. It took me a couple of hours, and is kind of a pain, but it can be done. The nice part is the analog board slides out after you get the CRT parts exposed. I was able to replace my analog board and everything has been running smoothly ever...
At my work they go so far as to shred old hard drives. I think it is kind of pointless when they shred perfectly good 40gb 7200rpm drives. I asked if I could format them and take them home but that is apparently against policy and not allowed :(
Those color ribbons are nice... I remember being amazed that a dot matrix printer could print in color back when I was in elementary school. I think I even printed a 5 foot banner with the awesome program Bannermania for a staff member's retirement years ago...brings back memories!
The only real nasty stuff in CRTs is lead and PCBs.....the other stuff is just your basic materials.... plastic, steel, copper wires, and glass...
In California it is free to drop off CRT monitors because those companies that accept them are paid by the state. They collect approx $3-6 on each...
