Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

Well, it's up for sale. https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/fs-ultrarare-quadra-700-rasterops-24mxq-videocard-collectors-item.43419/ I posted it only om 68kmla. I believe this card needs to go to a fellow enthousiast.

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

Found it! You have to enable the 'show more options' in the benchmark selector and then the button for displaying this breakdown in separate items becomes visible. Overall the numbers are lower. Some items are relatively more slower than others and one is much higher: CBits L/A. Not a clue what...

Norton Utilities 3.0 gave the following results:

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

Well, I ran some quick benchmarks using Mac OS 8 and Speedometer 4.02. For some reason that I cannot figure out in the limited time I have this weekend I cannot get the internal video to benchmark at 16 bits/pixel and 24 bits/pixel is not an option in the benchmark. Tattletech does not show the...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

Now that's a nice overview of the RasterOps cards and it answers some of the questions (which "we" in this thread already figured out. What a wealth of knowledge is in the 68kmla user base!): - No drivers needed for this card - 832 x 624 (75Hz) and 640 x 480 (66.7Hz) - and one of the few cards...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

I ran a quick Speedometer benchmark this afternoon but was in such a hurry that I couldn't take pictures. Well... perhaps some tweaking was needed, but the overall speed running system 7.5 was rather unimpressive. If i read it correctly it was somewhat slower than a Q605?? This weekend I hope...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

Yes, that's rather baffling as a use case. Either just make an exact copy of the system and have it integrate as seamlessly as possible with the system without the need for drivers? And somehow hoping Apple would allow them the use of their IC's?? Or is this the basis of the Q700 video circuit...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

And it works! 832x624 at millions of colors, confirmed. It is mentioned as the Quadra version of the regular nubus 24Mx to go with the 'Sweet 16 monitor' indeed. But from what I can see the boards look nothing like each other. Where the nubus board is 'old tech' full of discrete logic chips and...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

In February 1992 it is mentioned as 'upcoming product' in the short article that I have found about it. And it is mentioned as a new product in an advert in Macworld 1992 june issue. List price $995 for just the board. Wow... things sure weren't cheap those days

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

You were absolutely right! 👏 So its existence - in what seems a beta/test version I guess - is confirmed. (this borders on bird-watching :ROFLMAO:)

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

I do not have an Apple monitor, so I'm working with a dongle on the Quadra's built-in graphics port. You know, one of those old 10 dip switch things which I believe is set to output standard svga 1024 x 768 in its current configuration. The card itself feels comfortably warm to the touch and is...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

Well.. I couldn't keep you waiting so I gave up on some hours of sleep and I managed to transfer tattletech to the old quadra and the verdict is in. One of you guessed it right!

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

I seem to have misplaced my ethernet dongle for the AAUI port. So getting tattle tech on the machine is unfortunately something for the weekend. I'm sorry for the agonizing long wait ;) Techtool is installed on the quadra, but alas.. no info on the expansion cards.

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

RasterOps 24MxQ gives only a few hits and mostly in articles in tech magazines covering product announcements. It seems to be matched to a monitor labeled 'Sweet 16'. Yes, I am willing to sell for the right price. I'm clearing my collection. Well, most of it, that is. But given it's rarity I...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

My thought exactly. Unless they are connected deeper within the board layers. I will check that this weekend. But it probably uses the NuBus just for getting extra power and to give a bit of mechanical stability. NuBus has a 10MHz (20?) frequency if I remember correctly. So if you would have...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

To my best of knowledge no PPC accelerators were ever made for '030 macs, only 040 accelerators for 030 macs. The IIfx has a different kind of pds, it looks like a regular NuBus connector (different size though). The quadra was stored without the drive and I can't find a drive labeled for...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

There are definitely similarities, and some differences. This weekend I will fire up the quadra 700 and see if Tattletech can give us any information. Question remains indeed: why does Rasterops (or any developer) use Apple copyrighted chips? I don't recall seeing third party developers use...

Can anyone identify this (apple?) nubus+pds videocard?

I cannot find the right keywords to search for this card and nothing I have tried comes up with as much as a hint of what make and type this card is. It's a videocard that came with an Apple Quadra 700. It has both a PDS and a NuBus slot and I think it has 2MB vram. The large chips on the board...
