After doing a little more research on the topic by reading through the technical reference manual, i highly assume that the third pin on J13 is used as an assertion to increase the fan speed (/FANSPEED, Pin 31 on the PDS). As the signal is active high and regular 3 pin fans report their speed on...
Hi,
i intend to replace the stock fan of my Quadra 605 with a more silent one (Gelid Silent 6, 60x60x15 mm). The connector used to power the fan is J13 on the logic board and has three pins, but only two of them are connected and they are +12V (topmost pin, next to the silk screening J13) and...
Hi Josh,
thanks for your reply, using Hotglue was also my first idea - did that and it worked flawless. Also tried the 3D printed brackets from PotatoFi and just would like to let the community know that they also work on a Mac II without any issues, in case anyone needs them too...
Hi,
as most of clips which holds the 30-pin SIMMs in place brake off by just looking at them, this has also happened to the previous owner of the Mac II logic board i'm currently working on.
Has anyone a good working fix on how to secure the SIMMs in place when these tiny nibbles broke away...
Ah, thanks for the hint with the ones you linked on ebay, thought that they all have the exact same spacing! Will go with them then, seems to be the most "professional" solution.
The issue i see with those 1/2 AA holders on the II board is the spacing. I already have some Keystone 108 1/2 AA holders and they have a spacing of 29.5 mm between their solder legs, the II has a spacing of 33 mm.
Hi,
i'm currently reworking a old Mac II logic board and think about how to best replace the two 1/2 AA batteries. How have you solved this?
The most simple idea to me was to just wire and solder double battery clips on it and just use regular AA batteries in series:
This will give the...
Indeed, you are absolutely right. As soon as i select US as the keyboard on a german installation, the german layout appears in the system suitcase:
Thank you very much for your help to all! /case closed.
Interestingly, on a fresh, german 7.1 the suitcase only contains a few audio files and no keyboard maps. So i assume that they are hardcoded into some binary ... if anyone happens to have a suitable german keyboard layout for 7.1 i would be glad to have it too :-)
Hi,
maybe a very noobish question - but how to change to keyboard layout on a US 7.1.1 to German? There isn't any option in the Keyboard settings:
On 6.0.8 that was only possible when a International version was installed, but i thought that this changed in 7?
Best regards,
Egon
Hi,
does anyone has the installation disks for MathWriter II? They are absolutely unable to find anywhere on the net. Someone over at the emaculation-Forum also directly contacted the author and he's also unable to provide them - he also told the poster that it would be OK to release them into...
There are various kinds of heat conducting tapes. The ones whiche are thicker (0.5 - 1.0 mm), they sometimes can dry out - they are also often called 'Heat conducting Pad'. Personally i prefer the thinner ones, called 'Heat conducting Foil' which are extremely thin (0.125 mm). Don't know what...
No, never tried, always used either thermal conductive tape or regular thermal paste with physical mounting brackets. Can you recommend a specific one?
Hi,
i'm currently restoring a Quadra 650 back to it's fully glory and thinking about which heatsink to use for the 68040/33. I have two options:
Option 1: Original Apple 68040 Heatsink:
The stock one already on it.
Option 2: Using one of these:
(Aluminium, 50x50x11 mm, would glue it on top...
Well, that make things even easier, i'll just have to design the plate for mounting the SCSI2SD and the appropriate dummy connector to fit on the NuBus socket :-) Will keep the community informed about how's the project going
Hi,
is there anywhere a specification on the physical dimensions of NuBus cards available? I want to create a 3D printed Nubus card which can hold a SCSI2SD (or ZuluSCSI) with the SD card available from the slot cover. As a last resort i could simply measure the Apple NuBus video card in my Mac...
