    “660-700” 660AV accelerator

I picked up this 660AV at an estate sale, it has an accelerator I can’t find any info about. “P/N 660-700 REV. 1” is the only marking on the top.  On the CPU, I can see “XC68” but the rest is covered with thermal adhesive, it’s an “E31F” mask code. Anyone seen one of these before?

G5 used as alpha Xbox 360 devkit

Something I've always found fascinating was the use of Power Mac G5s as the original dev kit for the Xbox 360. For years there was little to no info about these machines or the software used, but that has changed in the last few months! A hard disk image is available, and apparently the original...

PowerBook 2400c backlight but no video

A couple years ago I bought a PB 2400c on CL that turned out to have a cracked screen (but otherwise working great). Then last summer on eBay, I bought a PB 2400c display (including hinges/lid) which was untested but at least isn't cracked. Finally got around to putting the screen in, the...

    Building Pararena 2 from source

John Calhoun released the source code for a couple of his classic games on GitHub back in January, but I didn't see any howtos or mentions of other people successfully building them. I made a walkthrough of how to build Pararena 2 inside Basilisk running on OS X...

    Fixing 520c hinge mounts

I picked up a 520c on eBay recently, it's in good condition except that the left-hand hinge standoffs/screw threads (part of the screen lid) are broken. I think they had already been glued before, I glued them back together using epoxy (some Loctite plastic bonding stuff) but it broke pretty...

    mrpippy's finds

I've been wanting to post some pictures of my finds, and thought I would start with my haul from the sale in Orange, CA (see the Craigslist Finds thread).    Mac86 for SE, still sealed! Also B&W Connectix QuickCam, Descent (with a signature on the front, looks like "Mark Allinder" or...

    Q605/LC475 capacitor connections

    I've been recapping my Q605, some of the pads are in rough shape but I was still able to probe the connections easily. Here's the list I came up with: C35:   47 µF   (+): +5V           (-): GND C36 :  47 µF   (+): +5V           (-): GND C101: 47 µF   (+): 12V           (-): GND C105: 47 µF  ...

    PowerBook 2400c :(cracked screen)

I took a flyer last week on a PowerBook 2400c on Craigslist, no adapter and untested. Good news: it boots! Bad news: screen is totally cracked and wrecked  :'(   only the lower left corner displays anything correctly. I hooked it up to an external monitor and booted it, the hard disk has the...

    Color Classic picture distorted

I picked up a Color Classic off eBay last week, had to bypass a via and now it boots! The picture doesn't look very good though, just isn't that sharp and there's some serious pincushion distortion: As usual that picture looks worse than real life (that line across the middle and the rainbow...

Almost fixed my Simasimac SE/30 (booted once!)

Spent today trying to get my SE/30 working, and I did get it to boot once!! It's always had the classic horizontal stripes SimasiMac, without any chimes. I replaced all the caps, without any luck. I was poking at signals today and found that the reset switch is bad--it was around 500 ohms...
