    Bench testing AA15830 from IIcx

Pulled that resistor, it was showing as a 10ohm right enough. Replaced it whilst it was out. Several of the caps were well past their best, showing signs of leakage/swelling etc. All were replaced along with the filter caps. PSU now soft starts with the jumper. Put the psu back in the machine...

    Bench testing AA15830 from IIcx

That def looks red to me also. Any chance you can see what R322 is, mine looks a tad toasty here. Might swap it if I can work out what it is. Found this site which has some images, but still hard to see. https://oldcrap.org/2019/09/01/apple-macintosh-iicx/

    Bench testing AA15830 from IIcx

Also noticed this resistor has been snipped? Assuming it’s a factory thing as there’s no remnants inside? Can’t imagine it’s vapourised!

    Bench testing AA15830 from IIcx

Will def do that if I can get it going. Had a chance this morning to test for trickle, showing 5v, joining to pfw fails to start the psu. Can confirm the fuses are fine and power is getting around the mains side of the board. Kinda grubby inside and can see a couple bulging caps along with the...

    Bench testing AA15830 from IIcx

Hi, The rifa's went in my IIcx astec power supply, machine is now totally dead, wont turn on. Have ordered the replacement caps and wondered if there was a safe way to start the psu on the bench for testing of output voltages much like how you would start an atx one. Have ordered the full set...

Se/30 with gouged board, need to locate traces

Alright folks! I bought an se/30 board which I thought was alright, no battery damage, caps looked replaced etc. But on closer inspection the caps were installed very badly, some missing and electrolyte still on the board. The biggest issue was that one of the vram chips was half removed from...

    Powerbook 180c psu replacement advice

That’s a great tip for opening the cases, I’ll be sure to give that a go! Having a hard time finding a 7.5v 3a psu. Any ones I find just seem cheap...

    Powerbook 180c psu replacement advice

Happy days. So the route to take is to look out for an original 180c psu and recap it? Would there be an issue using a modern psu within the parameters (7.5v, 3a) and using that? I’ve no probs with either route, just keeping my options open as they’re hard to come by, esp with a uk socket. My...

    Powerbook 180c psu replacement advice

Hi, What is the current consensus of using a modern 7.5v 3a psu with the 180c? I never received a oem one and I’m struggling to find one to purchase. Am i right in thinking I’m looking the m5652 model psu? I also own a 180 but I’m aware that the 180c needs a more powerful psu. I have been...

    G5 quad processor compatibility.

I think you are correct, had suspected this myself. Got some time and tried several things today with no avail. Tried a hairdryer on the ram slots are around that general area with gentle heat, tried pressing on various chips with a wooden dowel before plugging in power. No change, still...

    G5 quad processor compatibility.

Just spent a good hour or so putting in a known working replacement psu. No change whatsoever, machine behaves identically as before. I’ve replaced everything inside the case now other than the logic board. Ram, processor, gfx card, psu, the heap all swapped out. Should I just go ahead and...

    G5 quad processor compatibility.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Funny you should mention the psu, I had suspected it myself. With the 2.3 installed I was able to get at the terminals and measure the voltages. First round of measurements, they seemed low 3.3 was just under 3v. By the time I got back around to run through...
