I would try getting an old router and putting it in between that and my normal one, but I'm in China and as far as I know it would be impossible to find one here. Outside of a few big international companies nobody really had an ethernet router 15 years ago, and the locals are notoriously bad at...
Ok, got my Duo all set up and drivers installed, only thing I can't figure out is how to get it to connect to the internet. It's using 8.1 and I go to the TCP/IP control panel and set it to use DHCP server but it won't acquire any IP info from the router.
I'm using a standard linksys router...
Doesn't seem to recognize CDs unfortunately. I got the 600e set at ID 1, the light blinks when it's starting up but the Civ II Cd in there won't show up on the desktop. Sounds like I'll need to burn a mac OS CD on another computer. Any ideas where I can get a system 7.5 ISO that would have all...
Hey everybody, I got the Duo and my ultradock and while I just got home from a flight from HK and need to rest, thought i'd throw this out there. Can the ultradock ethernet work without any special software? Unfortunately the duo only has macTCP, will it work if I connect it to a router? How do...
So it's basically that apple never wrote drivers for USB that supported the nubus architecture, or is it that the OS required for USB support wouldn't run on the Nubus Powermacs/quadras?
I just think it's really strange that a top of the line machine as of august 1995 wouldn't be supported by...
I'm curious why there was never any Nubus card with USB ports. The imac came out in 1998, which means that it was less than three years since the top of the line mac was the 8100. At that time there must have still been a HUGE installed base of nubus macs which were still absolutely relevant...
I'm not sure what the real world performance would be, Id think that the CPU speed would almost be more of a bottleneck for surfing the web than the difference between ethernet vs serial. But I dunno.
i have no idea, not too big probably. The video card I have is a RasterOps 24XLTV, I don't know much about it but it's accelerated and can do video in which seems kinda cool. I don't have a 2300c yet, I figure that'll be a toy for another time. For now I just have a 280c and dock setup which is...
yeah dont get me wrong I loved that 1400 it was my first laptop, but yeah it never really seemed all that fast. What I was trying to get at about the 6100 was that it could go beyond it's capabilities pretty decently. I remember it could still run games like Age of Empires or Diablo and stuff...
well yeah of course...haha I am trying to get a 20 year old laptop on wifi I know it's not going to be a cinch. I'm just trying to be realistic about what I can do so I don't break anything irreplaceable. There can't be that many ultradocks floating around anymore so I wouldn't wanna ruin this...
That would be cool, but that's way too difficult for me unfortunately. I was thinking though the ultradock I could open it up and stick a 3G or wifi to ethernet thing in there if there is one that runs on batteries. Take the case off and stick it in there somehow, but unless it runs on batteries...
Its funny cause I always felt like the 6100 always exceeded expectations, but the pb 1400 i had to replace it, while definitely a lot faster, still always seemed slower than it should have. When the 1400 (and later the blue ibook) got stolen the 6100 got the call-up and I was always impressed...
You know I can believe that, that 6100 was alright. I had two newer laptops stolen from me and kept having to call the bullpen for the 6100; thing was always ready to come in relief and never let me down.
I remember there were a few games, Diablo included that definitely said needed a faster...
