I'm trying to restore a Quadra 610 with obviously failed caps. I've replaced the captors, but no boot, not chime, etc.
While poking around on the board I noticed that the positive pad on C53 and C33 are connected to ground. Is that normal?
And, I'm something of a noob to the hobbyist...
Fantastic, thank you both for confirming. I've tried booting it with a PRAM battery installed, but I've realized now that I didn't test the voltage on the PRAM battery so I might have been testing with a bad battery. Something I'll double check this evening.
Appreciate the quick replies!
I have a Quadra 610 I'm working on. No battery leakage, but obvious failed caps. I've replaced all the caps, but afterwords the machine doesn't boot, no startup chime and no video.
I've found conflicting information online as to if the 610 has any onboard video ram. Looking at the motherboard...
I've got a Quadra 610 machine I'm working on, and while cleaning the pads on the capacitors I removed I noticed that the 11th pin on the chip at RC6 (assuming I have orientation right) nearest to the negative side of C46 is completely *missing*. I see the pad, but wither thou goest, leg? I have...
I've not tried that yet, but failing an obvious replacement source was thinking about it.
I was posting here on the off chance somebody had stumbled on this problem before. :D
I've got what appears to be an otherwise working AppleCD 300i 2x CD-ROM drive from a Performa 6116CD. The laser assembly shuttle doesn't move properly, and I've found that the nylon drive gear is cracked - suspecting that's interfering with things.
Does anyone know of a 3D-printed replacement...
In case anyone is wondering, I wound up ordering a SCSI2SD v5.1 adapter, and using this adapter I don't observe the problem. I'm guessing it's a compatibility issue between the Classic II and the SCSI2SD v6 adapter. I'm going to reach out to the designer other SCS2SD and file a bug report, but...
Could you give a bit more detail about what finally solved your issue? I'm having difficulty with my SCSI2SD adapter as well. Was it simply the new SD card that seems to have gotten things sorted for you?
I've got a Macintosh Classic II with a SCSI2SD adapter. The drive initializes without issue using the patch HD SC setup utility, but when trying to install System 7.5.3 via the Apple images, the installation always fails with:
Dragging a system folder to the disk renders it bootable without...
The 1.44MB floppy drive in my Classic II wasn't reading disks reliably, so I cleaned the heads. I'm worried that I may have lifted the head too high, as the top head now no longer gets close enough to the disk surface to read. Outwardly, it appears to be in position, but it isn't - it won't read...
