So I finally got around to finishing the build on my SE/30. It was a Cragislister that I got about 10 years ago for $30 and had it at work for fun. Slowly the scsi went and then no sound. I got a re-cap from uniserver, and also traded some stuff for a re-capped analog board. I also had a decent...
Hello- I'm fixing my SE/30- I swapped in a new tube from a good SE and a new re-built analog board.
I power it up now and I get a nice startup chime, but the video is just a single point of light.
I checked connections and things look ok, what is going on?
Compare these two boards:
- both are Moto '030
- both designed in 1990, built in 1991
Look at the sizing difference. I realize Amiga's had a lot more custom chips, but still, you can clearly see CBM (Commodore Business Machines) was no where on the tech level of Apple even at 1990.
The CBM...
Craigslist- $30
I picked up:
- 1 NEC CDROM
- 2 x external scsi enclosures
- 2 x Mac SE 800k with 20meg internal
- 1 x Classic 2
- 1 Cx
- 1 Ci
- 1 IIgs
- 3 Extended Keyboards
- 1 ADB keyboard
- 1 MacPlus keyboard
Plus assorted ADB cables and a SCSI cable.
Not a bad haul, but these...
I've downloaded both Zterm 1.0.1 (68k) from the site and from MacGarden- when I unstuffit with S.E. 5.5 I get an empty folder with just a folder inside called "Sounds."
What is up with that?
Does that happen to anyone else? Am i using a bad version of StuffitExpander? It works on other software.
Thanks again to Uni for the recapping, my Color Classic is now back and working great.
I moved over the AztecMonster 2.5 to CF into it, because the internal SCSi drive was just dead. Side note: how on earth do you remove those? Luckily, with the 2.5" Aztec i can just put it in a static bag and...
I also have a Quadra 605 that I've had put away for a number of years.
Are there known leaky caps on that MB?
This is the one that's the same MB as the LC 475.
So, my SE/30 has some burn in on the Tube. And I think the caps may be going on it- the screen gets random interference about once an hour that lasts just for about 1 second.
From what I've read I should be able to swap the CRT and Analog Board from a Classic I picked up (which is in really...
I liberated my IIfx from my attic where it's been for 10+ years.
I'm pretty sure I got this back in the late 90's from the University of Maryland Computer Recycler. I picked up a bunch of stuff back them when they were cheap. I paid somewhere around 20-50 for this I'm pretty sure.
It's dead as...
This is a PB100 I got over the summer, never had one before.
Plugging it in and turning it on it chimes, I can see the screen backlight come on and the HD spin up.
Nothing is on the screen.
After about 5 seconds the HD spins down.
That is pretty much all it does at this point.
Anyone...
I just got my two boards back from Uni today (thx). I got a SE/30 and CC recapped.
Now I finally have my SE/30 working without the weird SCSI problems it's had for the past 3 years!
Here are some photos of the happy work today:
It's now got 7.5.3 and happily working...
I got my StarRouter, and with the supplies I already have for my never-used StarController I had it up and connected to my Mac.
However, the disks for the StarController do not work on the Router.
So I'm looking for anyone that may have some StarCommand 2.2 Disks for the StarRouter.
Until I...
I still don't have the Cat printing completely, and I need to bring up my IW2 to complete the stand off. But I'm getting close. I suppose I should have a Plus on there, but the SE was available in March 1987, which lines up pretty much with the Canon Cat. It's really weird using one, if you...
I thought I could connect my localtalk-only machines to my netatalk Appleshare server with just a LocalTalk Bridge (Asante).
I just got my bridge, hooked it up to my ethernet network and to a couple of localtalked Pluses. I'm using the original Apple localtalk adapters and cables. Neither of...
Had a great liberation today- two conquests in one day!
I've been watching these two postings on Craigslist for a while, and they hung around... so I finally had the car and a reason to go out of the city and into the burbs (where these were). I contacted the sellers and luckily they could meet...
