    SE FDHD looking for suggestions

Hard disk back to life (still noisy as hell), now running 7.0.1. I had to modify the floppy bracket because the floppy I got from another Mac was not flush with the slot in the front panel. By the way, this SE was fitted with a very unusual Kensington screen protection (well, eye-protection...

    SE FDHD looking for suggestions

I have a SE FDHD that I would like to restore and I've already read the following topics: https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/58262-macintosh-se-restoration/&tab=comments#comment-623621 https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/48616-se30-revival-progress/...

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

You are right, the IIsi was probably dismissed by the faculty after getting newer equipment. I know that a modern panel would look awesome but I prefer to have a period-correct system. The icing on the cake would be getting a real Portrait Video Card....

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

It's working! I realized I made a mistake in mapping my cable *right before* applying the joethezombie's pin-out so maybe even jt's pin-out might work. Thank you so much guys for your help, I'll try to solder a proper connector during the holidays. By the way, the IIsi you see in the...

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

I have just tried that pin-out and the monitor stays black. Just to make sure I got things correctly: - I connected the three "pink" wires on the 13W3 together and then connected them to a single wire that goes to pin 11 on the DA-15 - I connected the two "blue" wires on the 13W3 together and...

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

Thanks you so much jt, I'll try to build the cable as soon as possible. That pin-out makes very little sense according to the schematic I've found but I guess we'll have time to figure that out.

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

I finally got the cable! The data I have so far are: - Apple 13W3 - Apple DA-15 - Sense codes for the Portrait Display My questions are: - is Comp/Hor/Ver *return* on the 13W3 equivalent to Comp/Hor/Ver *ground* on the DA-15? - I guess I have to ground pin 4 to let the OS know there...

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

As you might have already guessed, that was a 13W3 to VGA cable, that's why a few cables are missing. I'll try with a proper 13W3 to 13W3 cable, I have one somewhere...

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

Surprise surprise! After tearing apart the SUN cable here's what I found out: - the three coaxial cables are properly connected to the three coaxial connectors (A1->Red, A2->Green, A3->Blue) - shell is connected to ground - pins 1,3,4,5 are connected to cables Yellow, Orange, Brown...

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

Thanks for your help jt and take your time, I am not in a hurry but just curious to see if the whole thing works. Interesting story about the C-130 and I love the film grain in the first picture!

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

I got the connector today! Night Stalker, please let me know about your cable pin-out so that I can replicate that on my cable. Hope I won't fry the CRT, it's very difficult to get a working one...

IIsi power supply: triumph and tragedy

That could be very helpful for diagnosing an old Mac, can you provide the pin-out you used?

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

It seems like a standard 13W3 connector has this pin-out: http://what-when-how.com/display-interfaces/standards-for-analog-video-part-ii-the-personal-computer-display-interfaces-part-2/ while an Apple 13W3 connector has this pin-out: http://www.angelfire.com/sc/anky/

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

I will get it next monday, in the meanwhile I'll cut the 13W3 cable. Thanks for your help!

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

My idea was to do the testing on the screw down connector and if it works I'll solder a proper connector with a heat-shrinkable sleeve. So far the only documentation about the pin-out is this: http://old.pinouts.ru/VideoCables/MacVideoToVGA_pinout.shtml...

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

I tried to buy a used DB-15 to 13W3 cable on eBay but it sold for more than $60! I have found a reasonably priced DB-15 connector like the one attached and I'll try to cut the SUN 13W3 cable that I already have and connect it to the DB-15. Still looking for some info about the pin-out.

Problems with IIsi and Portrait Display

Interesting. Let me do a quick search to understand if I can build one or modify an existing one. Pictures of the 360 degrees setup? :astonished:
