I realize this is a necro-thread, but I feel like I'm in a unique position to shed some light on the answer to this question.
I was on the installer QA team for "Unity", System 7.5.3 revision 2, and I was personally assigned the task of testing the installer on the Mac Plus. While the OP's...
So I just made the post, then ran across a link to Dali Clock *for Macs with 1-bit displays* and it might be the same app.
For anyone interested, you can get it here: https://www.gryphel.com/c/sw/general/daliclok/index.html
Years ago, I had an app that I could run on my Mac Plus called "Alto Clock".
It was a port of a digital clock screensaver that ran on the Xerox Alto computer.
I used it as a desk clock in my kids' room for many years. I've lost the disk that had the app on it, and I have not been able to find...
I've got a full-length OrangeMicro OrangePC Cyrix Cx486 DX2 MS-DOS Nubus card with a 72-pin RAM simm on it. I believe I'm the second owner, and I've had it since around 1996, when I was an employee at Apple. I either bought it from another Apple employee, or I bought it used at one of the Bay...
Digikey's 3.9uF cap worked great. Last time C1 blew, I just swapped analog boards. This time I repaired the original analog board by replacing C1 with the Digikey cap, swapped the boards, and it fired right up, working perfectly.
Thanks guys!
I use this Mac Plus to run Altoclock off a...
I just want to point out in answer to the question in my original post, one should not attempt to use a normal 4uF electrolytic (polarized) cap in place of C1. C1 is a bipolar cap, replace it with the Digikey part mentioned in this thread. I read on another site that replacing C1 with a...
I'm not worried about getting a discount on a $3 part. Mine arrived yesterday, I hope to find some time to do the repair and test the board some time this week. I bought a couple extras, so if there are people needing this part, they can shoot me a PM.
I ordered four of them from DigiKey, we'll see how they do, I have two analog boards to repair right now, and this will give me two spares. If they work out really well, I'll get some more to supply to people on the forum.
My poor Plus just had its second Analog Board die, most likely C1, as I have the vertical line down the middle of the screen. As I inspect the previous Analog Board I had in it, C1 has vented its top. The one on this particular Analog Board is a 3.9 uF, 35 volt electrolytic. I've seen other...
Do you have a bootable SCSI CD drive for your Classic II? If you do, I may be able to help you get a copy of the 7.5.3 retail installer CD. PM me.
As indicated by equill, 7.5.3 may be a lethargic experience on a Classic II, I recall that mine was always more responsive under 7.1 and 7.0.1...
Are you sure you have a Newertech G3 upgrade, and not a Sonnet? Sonnet was the only maker I was aware of that made G3 upgrades where the G3 upgrade was on the card that acted as a 90-degree PDS adapter. If you in fact have the Sonnet, you can put either the Apple HPV or the AV cards in it and...
I used to run a pair of 64 meg simms in my 6100 with no trouble *unless* I tried to use them at the same time with a Sonnet G3 accelerator. The two just would not work for more than about 60 seconds with out hanging. Dropping to a pair of 16 meg simms it would run fine, or running the 64 meg...
I worked at Adobe for 9 years and helped develop PressReady. You may still be able to order it directly from Adobe, or from HP, but make sure you get the specific version that was made for your printer.
That said, if you simply get Acrobat and print your documents to PDF, then print the PDF to...
