    LC PDS DOS Card?

Guess there isn't one! Oh well.

    LC PDS DOS Card?

Is there such a thing, for the original LC PDS? Just curious. The only LC PDS cards I know of are video, sound, Ethernet, Apple II, and accelerators, but a DOS card would be really cool. Also, how rare are LC PDS video cards that do 1024x768 or better. According to the wiki, there's one...

Video Format Which Doesn't Tax G4

I have to mention: MacTubes is awesome! My 12" G4 is still my main computer and youtube would be inaccessible without MacTubes. I don't really understand how it speeds it up so much, but I guess youtube must be running a lot of javascript or something like that?

    SE/Plus Speculation

So there are lots of 020/030 accelerators for the SE and Plus (actually not sure about 030s for the Plus but I think so anyway). Some of them have RAM slots that let you go above 4 MB, either as a ramdisk or by using VM, and at least all those with the 030 must have a PMMU in there. So, would it...

    External NuBus power supply?

I think the diode would be bad because of the voltage drop. (maybe someone who knows more about electronics can help me out here :p ) I agree the separate supplies for different tasks might be the better way to go.

    Strange Classic II CRT Problem

Agree with powerpup: the picture is really cool.

What do you like to have on a Classic system?

Here's what I've got on my classic system: MacVim MacSSH Pagemaker 3, Photoshop 2.5, Illustrator, StrataVision 3D 4 AG Net Tools (ping etc.) Netscape 3 and 4, WannaBe. This is all under System 7.6.1. Works well for me, although I wish there was an easier way to do e-mail when your mail...

    Thinking about getting a IIcx

One thing I'm curious about: I know System 6 has an 8MB RAM ceiling. Do any versions of A/UX have this?

    CC Mystic Bus Error Puzzle

I'm trying to do this without the VGA mod, half because of my bad soldering skills and half because I kind of like the bigger type from the lower resolution. I pulled out the 1400, and instantly remembered why I hadn't tried it before: no powerbook SCSI cable. I did boot up the powerbook with...

    CC Mystic Bus Error Puzzle

I'd LOVE to just take the SCSI HD out and install the OS on it from another mac. That would definitely seem like a solution. But, my only other computer has no SCSI. :'( Maybe if I dug out my old PB1400, though... I'll try it!

    CC Mystic Bus Error Puzzle

A slight update: The problem persists if I use a different CD drive. Also, a cold boot with the OS 8.1 CD I burned always results in the sequence: happy mac, CD eject, reboot. Warm reboots never do this, always making it to the "Welcome to MacOS" then bus error bomb. My best guess now is that...

Thinking of buying a Dell 3350 or the like for Ubuntu

What he said. Also, if you have the money, a lot of people say that the quality of thinkpads is a little higher than the average PC laptop. Not as much higher as it was under IBM, but still better. Also many (including myself) like their keyboards. They are more solid feeling. Just pointing it...

    CC Mystic Bus Error Puzzle

Maybe not. It's jumpered to provide term power, and there's one of those pass-through terminator things on the unused SCSI port of the enclosure. Also, even if I unplug the internal HD of the mac, the problem stays.

Stuart Bell's CC page is back!

Huzzah! I was really sad to see that page gone.

    CC Mystic Bus Error Puzzle

In between bouts of schoolwork, I've been trying to get some kind of OS on my Mystic CC, but nothing seems to work. First I tried to make a System 7.1 boot CD (with the system enabler ResEdit hack), but it won't boot. I think that the image as burnt by the OS X disk utility wasn't bootable. Next...

    E-mail

So this is a topic that I've gleaned a lot of spotty information on from this forum and elsewhere, but I still haven't figured out anything that works. Basically I seek an e-mail client that runs on some version of System 7, and can cope with modern e-mail encryption. (Specifically, it would...

    MS Office/Word 98

I think I have to take this opportunity to promote TeX / LaTeX for word processing. Really, the workflow is so much better, especially on older hardware. Since you do all your editing in a lightweight text editor, there's no added frustration coping with long document loading/page scrolling...

Making a SSW CD for Mystic CC

I've been trying to put together a boot/install CD for Mystic (non 640x480) CCs. My plan is to take all the files from disk images (modifying the necessary ones in ResEdit) and then burn them to a CD with the OS X disk Utility. Will this be bootable on the CC? Or is there some classic Mac OS...

    Warrior^WTenFourFox 4.0.1pre needs food^Wtesters badly

I just finished trying out the version you linked to on my 12" Powerbook G4 (1.5 GHz, 1.25 GB ram, Tiger). It runs great overall; I think it about the same overall speed or a little faster than Safari 4. Like you mentioned in the blog, the HTML5 youtube is pretty choppy. A 1.5 GHz G4 isn't that...

MacOS X Server 1.2- Really neat OS

I love the way this looks, compared to the candy of OS X. I wonder if there's a way to upgrade the internals of OS X server 1.2 while retaining its interface? Probably not though, I imagine someone would have figured it out by now...
