PowerBook G4 Titanium A1001/A1025 hard drive screws

Ah - so they can be anything that fits the screw openings on the side of a disk. That makes life easier. Thank you.

PowerBook G4 Titanium A1001/A1025 hard drive screws

The PowerBook G4 Titanium A1025 that I bought has its hard disk loose in the drive bay, and I'd like to attach it with the screws that are supposed to attach it on the left side to the battery bay. Everyone says that these are T8 Torx screws, but no one says anything about the length of the...

WiFi card for Powerbook Titanium G4?

Many thanks for both suggestions. I can't find the Siemens card, but the Linksys is everywhere, and cheap enough that I can buy a second if the one I ordered isn't version 3.1. Speed isn't as important as reliability (though i may feel differently after I actually try it.)

WiFi card for Powerbook Titanium G4?

I've finally got around to buying a used PowerBook Titanium G4 (A1025) and hope to be able to use wi-fi with it, as I know the Airport card won't work with current standards. I found in my closet a QuickerTek nQuicky 802.11n PCMCIA card and if I can't find the driver CD, I see that it's...

    A self-contained QEMU-based A/UX system for macOS

Which is exactly what it says on the download page (https://mendelson.org/auxrunner.html) under the heading "If the app won't start." I had forgotten (until I looked back at the page) that the command needs "sudo" and I should have remembered that in my earlier post.

    A self-contained QEMU-based A/UX system for macOS

The SDL2 library is in the Libs folder in the package. I've tested the app on systems that absolutely do NOT have SDL installed, and it works correctly. The SDL option does not require any software that isn't part of the app itself. Also, I can confirm that, under Sonoma on ARM, the Mac OS menu...

    A self-contained QEMU-based A/UX system for macOS

I had no trouble launching it under Monterey on Intel. Have you tried this: open a terminal, type in followed by a space; then drag the app into the terminal window and press Enter. Then try running the app.

    A self-contained QEMU-based A/UX system for macOS

I would never have thought of doing that. Thank you. I've changed the command to "-display sdl" in my app, and will upload the corrected version soon. Thank you again! Incidentally, I'm running it under Ventura. Are you using a different macOS version?

It's always visible on my copy of it. Perhaps shut it down and restart?

And now updated with the latest code that Cat_7 posted today on emaculation.com (https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11728)

    A self-contained QEMU-based A/UX system for macOS

File/print version. The emulator should run on any modern Mac, I think.

I'm glad to hear that someone actually tried it! And thank you for your good words!

    Run X windows in A/UX?

The answer to my own question is to disable autologin, then, when the login window appears, use the top-line Options menu to change the session type to X11 and login. I still haven't found a way to run an X11 app in an A/UX Finder session, and probably there isn't one.

    Run X windows in A/UX?

After experimenting, I see that setting the monitor to 16 Grays makes it possible to start MacX without making everything turn black, but I still can't figure out how to run the "Sample" app or Xeyes or anything else. This is certainly pure stupidity on my part, and I'm hoping that someone will...

    Run X windows in A/UX?

In another thread, I've posted a link to a self-contained macOS setup that uses QEMU to run A/UX. It works well, I think, except that I can't X11 apps to run. For example, if I launch MacX, all the windows turn black, and it's impossible to start anything at all. Is there any way to configure...

    A self-contained QEMU-based A/UX system for macOS

Ah - I simply copied an existing page and forgot to fix the properties. Fixed now. Thank you! (You may need to press Cmd-R to see the updated title.) As for it not opening, you're absolutely not doing anything wrong. Possibly it works on my systems (two different M2 MacBook Air machines, one...

    A self-contained QEMU-based A/UX system for macOS

For what it's worth, and making heavy us of other people's hard work (especially and crucially by corymalon), I put together a self-contained AppleScript app for macOS that runs A/UX under QEMU. Details and download here. The app is notarized: https://mendelson.org/auxrunner.html

    A/UX 3.1.1 Post Install Scripts

This is all just superb. Thank you a thousand times. One small detail for the wiki. I couldn't get optsw to mount because the wiki's instructions under step 5 doesn't have the full string that you have above:
