    Third Party CD Recorders

I know this could be filed under a hardware but it's technically software related. I just found my old CD-R/RW that Ricoh made a few years back (I got it in '98 or early '99!)and curiously, in order for it to mount CD's (and burn under Toast) I actually needed to have the APPLE CD/DVD Driver...

    Help with Corroded Board

Kewl, I was worried that corrosion from battery gunk was irreparable compared to "run of the mill" messes inside the board. I didn't realize that cleanup of battery-induced corrosion was not only doable but has been discussed! Thanks for the suggestion, will start searching now!

    Help with Corroded Board

Good news: I got a lovely 81/110 for only $10! Bad news: there were some "video" problems that turned out to be a leaked Backup Battery. The owner said it would work but just had the video problem...well now I know it maybe a bit harder than that. Any way to salvage the motherboard? I...

    DNA Sequencing Software

Ooh, something I can be useful for. I work in a biology lab and we always need to sequence DNA. ABI Prism sequencing uses capillary sequencing techniques. Basically you need a $20K-40K machine that is an automated sequencer which reads DNA samples; THAT is the input (along with DNA samples of...

    The Mother of All Conquests

Absolutely impressive! And all for $60...lucky! That 9500/180MP is extremely awesome cuz it's got the older processors...wonder if you can run BeOS or even Rhapsody on that?! Anyhow, huge haul at a mere $60 is phenomenal, instant collection indeed =)

    A conquest for somebody

Holy Moly, with 3 hrs left it's already at $1,666 or thereabouts. Can someone tell me what the fuss is about with this card? I understand it's a prototype and all but come on folks! Then again, it could be shill bidding...but I'm not pointing fingers or anything Anyways, just enlighten me if...

    Titanium 1GHz and OS9

I am now the owner of a 1GHz TiBook. What I'm curious about is, it has a 1GHz G4 and can boot into OS9 (pretty nifty), although I hadn't played much around in OS9 (just got it and really am so used to OSX that my most of my work resides in OSX specific apps...like IWork and such). Does anyone...

Quadra 605, IIsi, and 68000 brethren

I was there yesterday and two weeks ago (visited my bro)! Last time, I got a IIci but decided against the IIsi and the LCIII, glad they went to good homes. When I was there Yesterday I saw that they still had an LCIII, WGS 6150, LC, Color Classic, and SE on sale for $10 a pop in the back. Go...

    Dead Pismo!

Awesome find! Yea I got two Pismos (since sold one) that were both DOA but I unplugged the PRAM battery and they work! The 500 mHz's are the best and harder to find, congrats!

    575

I'd always wanted a 575! When I was quite young I was begging my parents for a Performa AIO but all we found on sale was the 550, we bought it for $990, REFURBED. It did the trick though...but still my how times and prices have changed. Have fun with the 575, best AIO 040, IMHO.

    2400c!

Thanks! I'd always kept the G3 proc on my list of "let's just hold out and see," still in amazement. The RAM is at 80MB, not bad actually. I really want to get Classilla to run on it in 9.1 (that's where it's at right now). Also, weren't there some portable SCSI CD-ROM drives out there, that...

    2400c!

I just had to share. I've had a string of bad luck with a 2400c I had so I bought a cheapo "parts machine" off of eBay awhile back and thought it'd be good to change out the boards and what not. The cheapo in and of itself turned out to be FULLY FUNCTIONAL with, get this, the 240 MHz G3 NuPowr...

    Hyperchina?!

I've been looking high and low for this piece of software. HyperChina was a lovely piece of software that was created in the mid 1990's by SinoLogic software (based out of Berkeley, CA) by I think some Chinese Graduate students who wanted a better product to teach Chinese. Anyways, it was made...

    Help With Hard Drives

You folks guessed right, my drives are not powered by external power. I'm really surprised that the PB 17" USB 2.0 ports don't have enough juice, isn't that weird? I'm very optimistic, what I can try and do is use my old PB 12" which, in fact, these drives mounted on before. If that fails, I...

    Help With Hard Drives

I'm at my wit's end and thought I'd give it a shot on this forum. I have two hard drives, one an external WD Passport 120GB that was formatted for Mac and the other is an internal (converted to external USB) Fujitsu 60GB hard drive that originally came with my PB 12". These drives used to...
