Does a faulty flyback explain the lack of a chime? And will it chime even with a faulty or no harddrive? I do know the logic board and power supply are ok.

That's actually good news as I found a new AB, so not a waste of $$$ thanks guys.

Hi, The keyboard from my TAM is playing up (M3459), all the keys work except for the power, both shift keys, ctrl, apple (command) and esc. Ive tried stripping it down, cleaning, thought the cap may have leaked so cleaned the board. Driving me nuts! any help would be appreciated. Cheers Matt

I don't think you can answer that question without some degree of nostalgia bias, sure I always wanted a Mac SE but couldn't afford it so had to settle for a Mac Plus (which I still have all these decades later), maybe its just me, however I don't have the same attachment to all the Mac Pro's...

Thanks for all your advice, here are some pics... the only obvious damage seems to be between the R44 and R50. Is there a easy way to diagnose or who these days can do the repair if possible or simply give up and try to source a new board?
