Disassemble the keyboard if possible without damage. Separate the rubber membrane from the back PCB. Use cotton swabs & Isopropyl alcohol to clean the conductive traces and membrane.

I noticed the Macintosh seems to have provisions for NTSC/PAL composite output, according to the monitor sense codes documentation. Has anyone successfully coaxed a composite signal out of the Mac video port?

The LC should be able to do 256 colors by the way. check your DIP switches again. set for a VGA monitor, if you haven't already.
