Ah, dang! Thought that would be a cool project to witness lmao.
But hey if you ever decide you wanna get rid of your amazing SE/30.... or if you ever need to use it for a collateral loan... hit me up LMAO
Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Using my friend's Blackberry to connect to the internet was greatly helped by Turbo mode.
However, does rendering of images take up much CPU power, especially with multiple tabs open?
Use it to play Civilization! http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/games/demos_updates/civilizationiii.html
Or use it for chatting, surfing non-flash sites, iTunes, DVD watching, email, or as a torrent download station, or for using Quicken.
Are you referring to the "oldworld rom" or openfirmware, whatever its called?
Even though there is no AGP in these, I'd still put it in the G3 category because it is A) a G3 and B) Can natively run OS X!
I'd like to see if anyone else can test this theory... I installed Opera 10 on my 1GHz G4 iBook and enabled "Turbo Mode" which renders the pages on Opera's servers, then sends a much smaller/lower res image version to the receiving machine.
It seems to me that everything from Hulu to the New...
Hey ya'll! I just got a free iBook G4 for helping a friend migrate data from it to her MacBook, then connecting her BlackBerry to her MacBook!
Specs:
1.07GHz G4 w/12" Screen
256 MB RAM (I upgraded it to 512)
40GB HD
Combo Drive
Airport Extreme
I then:
Reformatted with 10.5.8...
Actually I have some pretty small hands for a guy. These are just some big honkin' RAM modules!
I'm pretty sure you are right. The smaller one was in a bag I had labelled "64MB??" from about 5 years ago. Thanks for the help! Do you think I should sell them for $5 to cover shipping? I'd hate to...
Hi there! I think both of the following are for older PowerBooks, but I don't know what kind would use them!
First one is below. Has "A 8Mx64 EDO 3V 120 Connector" on it and some more numbers. Company is Goldenram Date of Manufacture is 04/30/99...
Turns out that the iMac G5 is 1.8GHz/1GB RAM/160GB HD/CD-RW with a 128MB Radeon 9600 graphics card and Leopard Server.
The G4 was 933MHz/512MB/60GB/Combo Drive
So sadly these aren't as great as I thought they would be, but still a good bargain... I think?
Its not exactly a free conquest, but I think the deals on these finds is pretty good! I'm picking up a Dual 1.25GHz G4 + 17" LCD for $50 tomorrow and a 1.8GHz 20" iMac G5 (without ISight)for $150. Pretty sure these are good deals! I'll post detailed specs once I get them.
Did you end up getting it to boot? How's the performance with the G4 upgrade?
I know there have been reports of people successfully installing 10.5 on the beiges with G4 upgrades! Have you thought of doing something like that?
Report back on how your XPostFacto install of 10.2 goes! I've been really interested in getting a Kanga to turn into an OS X machine, but haven't known anything about how easy it would be to install OS X.
Great find, and I'm pretty sure that is a good price you paid! I know a few years ago I...
