Porting LinuxDoom to System 7 (or trying to) - progress and questions

I am sharing these visions, strangely to the exact same detail :D We could compile the improvements here: https://github.com/izne/DOOM-for-Macintosh/ On my LC630 (68LC040 at 33MHz) there is not much change after the applied patches here. It shouldn't be the lack of the FPU, I guess. There are...

Porting LinuxDoom to System 7 (or trying to) - progress and questions

I happen to have a Macintosh LC630 (68LC040 at 33MHz) and just got the Ultimate Doom 1.0.2 compiled from source on it. Really interested now to apply your patches and post back the numbers. I am not yet familiar with CW, but can a profiler of some sort there help see whats going on? What...

TashTrio: ADB Keyboard, Mouse, and Modem too!

And of course - it works! Thanks a lot! Your support is much appreciated! I am drafting a small KiCad file in addition for your firmware. Going to transfer the latest updates from the protoboard into it.

TashTrio: ADB Keyboard, Mouse, and Modem too!

Alright, it is good news then - more or less the mistery is clear now! As this is my first ever exposure to PIC(12), I have misread the sheet that the micro *requires* LVP, so I naively went for that. I see now what you say that MCLRE has to be OFF in order to have RA3 not be reset only...

TashTrio: ADB Keyboard, Mouse, and Modem too!

Oh, no... I programmed it in a DIY way, using FT232R adapter and PICPgm software with properly mapped pins. At least the PICPgm verified it after recording and I also checked it at least once again after recording. It seemded fine, but maybe I have to check this once again. Would it make any...

TashTrio: ADB Keyboard, Mouse, and Modem too!

Yes, I have tried plugging only the keyboard and start. Its lights blink once (gets powered up), and then nothing. I read in the Microchip AN591 that ADB is open collector and needs a pullup resistor on the other side on its I/O line. I somehow missed that and did not have a pullup there, so I...

TashTrio: ADB Keyboard, Mouse, and Modem too!

On a very brief test, I could not see anything. First, I tested the board without chip, connected to ADB for power and only the keyboard. Connected the logic analzer to PS2 CLK and PS2-Keyboard DAT pins (RA2, RA3). Inside the logic analyzer software, I set a decoder for PS/2 protocol and I...

TashTrio: ADB Keyboard, Mouse, and Modem too!

The keyboard is a good old Cherry "MY 3000 R/M" (G81-3000LRNDE) that is native PS/2. I use it on another computer and it is working. It looks it gets powered up (three lights blink for a second) and the cursor freeze on keypress might mean it is trying to talk back. No other PS/2 keyboard around...

TashTrio: ADB Keyboard, Mouse, and Modem too!

Finally, I took a crack at it! Programmed the PIC12 and dropped up a minimal circuit board for it. Mouse is cruising along perfectly, but the keyboard does not work. I noticed every time I'm jiggling the PS2 mouse and hitting a key on the keyboard simultaneously, the mouse pointer freezes for...

I discovered that the OEM keyboard and mouse are increasingly expensive to obtain. tishtrio firmware seems great PS/2 to ADB convertor and I am now making a PCB for it. Happiy

The hard drive sounded like damaged but during power-cycles it continuously improved. Connected to another machine, the drive looked quite alive and with every next test its performance improved magically.
