With what system? Those microphones only work with quite old Macs from just a few years. They wouldn't work with a 500 series, an iBook, etc. They are from before the plaintalk mic came out. It might work, but you'd need something like an LC or Classic (with sound input but before the Quadras 840/660, so there's really a slim group of machines they work with) to use it.
Correct. The IIsi through, I believe, the 650/800 all used that first type of microphone. The box also has a little adapter with L/R phono inputs. You could use that to connect a tape deck or similar to a Mac.
The 660/850 and newer (through one of the Power Macintosh G4s) all use plaintalk microphones, which have a longer connector.

Oh! Ok then, that was the problem! I thought something was off when I tried to plug it in to my 'Book. There wasn't a defining click into the port, like with headphones. I also compared it with my Plaintalk mic, the plug is definitely different.

EDIT: Is there a PowerBook 100 series thing that it will work with? Trying to find that answer, but no results yet.

Most of the PowerBooks have microphone ports.
I believe the 100 series (at least 140 through 180/180c) have microphone ports. I don't know off hand if they're the old style or if they are PlainTalk. I'm sure wiki, everymac, or LEM would know.

It's pretty much the microphone, a small holder that you could mount to the side or front of a Mac monitor, and the audio line adapter in a little plastic holder.

Wow, interesting. What's the difference between the first and the second, except additional adapter? By the way, there are also at least one more model—looks the same as the third but in clear case. I bought such recently. While I don't know how I will use it, just bought because it is cool looking.

I'm fairly certain the brown box case is actually newer than the white box one. Apple had a whole thing in the 90s where they started using brown boxes because it was eco-friendly if I remember correctly.
The Microphones are the same, just one has the RCA adapter.
The translucent PlainTalk Mics showed up around '98 to go with the PowerMac G3 Blue and White and later machines.
Not pictured on popcorn.cx is the PowerBook grey mic of course.
Also I remember someone recently posted pictures of a beige apple-branded headset microphone… Still not sure where that one came from, but it's probably related to the QuickTime Conferencing Camera / Apple VideoPhone kit.

I don't think that any conclusion was drawn about the earphone mic that came up a few months ago. It has the long plaintalk connector, it is super obviously Apple's styling, but that connector did not do sound output and the person who had it wasn't able to get input working on anything.

Also I don't believe that there is a micro phone for the 100
