@defor Thank you for your appreciation and the offer.
Followed by your encouragement —thread hereby created. Well knowing the viewpoint 68kMLA used to express -I needed to know of your current standing. Therefore, that previous thread served -also the purpose of highlighting affiliations.
That it turned out to be something already known was a happy mistake. The link, not being important was gradually, over the span of weeks, moved over to the companion thread, here’s that find at its —original source.
In early 2022 I started contributing to the Mac scene on a 2nd-unaffiliated site regarded, de facto as the standard for Mac. Most of my findings never made it to a page, but I left that site a year ago, after all uploads were made public —without a heads-up notice.
“Public attention isn’t for me” -can be misinterpreted. I’m referring to the attention from; authors, publishers, lawyers, and international laws, especially from more recent releases. My primary concerns are specifically —exclusions.
Preserving legacy software is important; authors aren’t lining up to preserve it themselves —so it’s left to the archivists. That said, as it has always been, authors’ works are de jure protected. The very least one can do is show some respect and archive it out of focus.
Archive.org vs. WARC (Web ARChive) -captures of websites.
The work I do is archiving software that has not already been archived —for every architecture. Some of the most intriguing finds consist of files with nonexistent extensions that evaded IA captures.
Say I follow the well-meant recommendations -create pages on the Internet Archive and upload. With descriptions including the standard copyright violation disclaimers. Torrents are automatically generated -but rarely used.
If the author or publisher then, by rights, submits a copyright claim for the material to be removed. As well as a request for either a partial exclusion of the original source or a complete website exclusion from the Wayback Machine. It will remain stored away inside that WARC at the Internet Archive —inaccessible and unavailable to the public for our remaining lifetime.
I will not only have lost time spent on creating a page but also lost time away from preservation, finding dozens more —not securely stored. There’s a high probability that I’d be among the few remaining people who still own a copy. As stated, a different solution is in the making. For now, as archiving is a daily habit of mine, whenever I need a break now and then —I share my findings. It’s much easier and quicker to share items here —it has the traffic and the right audience.
Welcome to the Salvation Archive on 68kMLA
—an archive of abandoned and lost legacy software

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the preservation efforts, by saving and securing a copy.
Go ahead, archive it or upload it to websites for other retro enthusiasts to enjoy.
There's no need to mention the pseudonym I use in the Mac community, thank you.
All that I ask, out of courtesy is that you credit 68kMLA

The first thing I’m sharing to the 68kMLA community -is a finding from late July.

This thread, and its links now show up publicly in search engines, why that 3rd-unaffiliated site was chosen —because it does not get indexed.
@defor, with approval and acceptance from the 68kMLA hinterland —I accept maintaining this new archive thread. It’s required that I’m able to edit this thread adding to it -not requiring making new posts. This archive works best if set to private (Log in to view this thread). It can however also remain public, to be used when linking to public sources. That in addition requires the creation of a companion thread in the private section. This is used when linking directly to WARCs —which has not yet been securely stored.
