Option is used to suppress further initialization of Interware GrandVimage cards at SecondaryInit time.
1-9 and A-F are also used to force monitor selection during boot by GrandVimage.
Space was also very widely used by graphics cards for "I have buggered up my monitor settings, please cycle through resolutions until I get one that works when I will let go"
If you hold down the $ key on a Mac SE dual floppy system then at boot money will come out of one of the floppy drive slots. Which slot and how much money will be determined by how hard you hold down the $ key.
That part is largely a myth. It turns out different people had different models of SE's (known as 800K, FDHD, and SuperDrive) and that's why they were getting different amounts of cash out of them. (You can tell by the difference in currency denominations.)
I wonder if someone can somehow put a small ATM's innards inside a modified SE shell, and then create a Mac-like UI for it (or better yet, have an emulator run real Mac SSW (or ideally, somehow make the stock SE LB work) and make some software to communicate with the ATM stuff).
Also ejects the internal floppy if you do it earlier in the boot process. Holding down keys at startup is an endeavour fraught with unexpected side effects...
