ATX adapter for 8100 and other things with a 22-pin connector

I made another of these dumb things because I'm frankly tired of the current janky harness I'm using.

Find it at https://github.com/GeorgeRudolf/PMacATX

I suggest you people combine orders since MOQ is 5 boards, and they can cheaply assemble the SMD bits. This has not been designed to fit Chinese connectors that have a spacing of 4.2mm between rows. I may consider doing a 2nd board for later. For now, stick to original Molex parts. The blind-mate 24 way will have to be trimmed to fit the machine - see the readme on github. It's also only available from Molex, from what I've seen. The proper 22 was discontinued long ago.

You can forego the connector to the machine and use the board with the harness stolen from a dead PSU. Since I won't crosspost to the PCI Macs section: for those, you need the 3.3V harness from the original PSU, or make your own.

Enjoy, if there's issues feel free to file them on github.

Edit: I screwed up and the connector is on the wrong side of the board. I'll have to redo, and will put it back up soon.
(It's back up - if by any misfortune someone ordered bad boards, they might be usable by putting the connector on the same side as the ATX, not sure that'll clear, or by using the PSU harness. I'm terribly sorry.)

If anyone has, contacting the board house quickly by live chat is also an option.

Thank you for designing these, they're brilliant.

I've made a small adjustment to my adapter: I filed off a corner so that I can use it with my 840AV board installed in the case. Otherwise, it fouls a plastic spring clip.

I had to neatly file off a very thin bit of the case plastic as well. My case is far from being in a perfect state, so I didn't mind.

The other option that most people will be able to do is solder in the harness from the old PSU so that the adapter isn't sitting right on the motherboard. I couldn't do this as I'm attempting a recap and repair of the original, failed, PSU. If that doesn't work out, I'll be more than happy to cut up the old harness.

Interesting that it actually works. I am looking to replace the old PSU on the 8100 with a modern one eventually, but of course making the adapter may be the tricky part. Do you need to populate the 3.3v and ground ones on the board. Also, what PSU Udid you use and the power ratings. I have a Micro ITX PSU (but need cables) that does 20A on the 5V and 3.3V, but not sure if any the Macs need -5V as none of the modern PSUs have them.

It ideally needs notching out in two places. It fouls the motherboard clip on one corner, and the plastic chassis behind the CD-ROM drive on the opposite corner. You can see how I’ve filed down a bit of my case in the photo, as I was reluctant to file the PCB down where the PCI aux connector is.

There we go - I'll upload this alongside the old version on github juuust in case. @croissantking may I use your image of the filed-down install to explain the reason for this? I'm not sure it'll fit as my 8100 board exists without a case, and I don't have an 840av at all, but... It should be an improvement.

If someone wanted to make me one of these I'd be happy to pay for and test the fitment. Just no time to deal with making one, but have plenty of test machines.
