Italian Linen Cover

I just ordered a handmade, italian linen cover for my SE/30 and keyboard on Ebay (search 275298261159).
We like nice things, don't we?

I do like linen. This is a thing of beauty. I haven't really seen dustcovers for compact macs for a long, long time.
The seller hand sews the Apple logo. Nice!

Any chance they'd make one for an LC with a 12" monitor on top?
Ask.
She may very well make them by hand but she will need a pattern first.
If you know anyone who sews, they may be able to help you to get the measurements she will need to make up a pattern.
Actually, I have long wondered whether pattern-making software exists for Macs, preferably old macs.

I have too many Macs of all shapes and sizes. I'd go broke trying to cover them all!
Since when is going broke an acceptable excuse? ;)

So i was playing Glider 4 on my balcony, as one does when it's end of October and 23°C, when i heard the postman toss a package into the neighbors trash can.

Only thing that i don't like is that the power cord is in the way:

Are there flat power connectors?

Cons:
  • pricey
  • doesn't leave an opening for a regular power cord

Pros:
  • fast shipping and fair shipping cost
  • Fits nicely
  • keeps the dust away
  • looks nice
Suggestions to Roberto:
  • A mouse cover is missing

They exist, I’ve bought them (at least with US style mains plugs). I believe digikey or mouser will solve your problem.

We have an unspoken understanding, he hides the package so I'm barely able to retrieve it, i get heart palpitations while searching for the stuff i paid hard cash for.
Remember the DVDs and chocolate i sent you a decade ago? That was my man. :giggle:

Hi everyone!
I'm really happy to see this thread all dedicated to my covers;) I have to say that I didn't expect it and I am very pleased to read everything, including suggestions and what I should do to improve them.
Before putting my girlfriend to work with her sewing machine, I thought a lot about the best (and practical) solution for dressing up my Macintoshes and keyboards.
First of all I focused on the material; I thought it had to be as resistant as possible, so it had to withstand high temperatures during washing, it had to resist the fading of the logo (that's why each color is made from a different thread), it had to let as little light as possible through to limit yellowing, it had to preserve the shape even after many washes and finally it had to be a dress with the same style and color as the Macintoshes.
I was lucky and found this cotton-linen blend fabric that is really strong; a maximum iron can be left on the fabric and it doesn't burn;) (But don't do it for long eh ... I don't know what could happen!).

the power cable was, I must say, the point with the greatest doubts.
I thought that if I made a hole in the fabric to pass the network cable, every time I put the cover on I would have to unplug the network cable and reattach it later. Same thing when I would have taken it off, so impractical. I thought of making a cut in the fabric, from the hole in the network cable to the bottom, but I would have to at least put a velcro but with the tools I have at my disposal it was difficult because the velcro has an important thickness and the needle of the machine from sewing broke. So, I thought: every time I use my Macintosh, I always unplug the power cord, this is because it is not good to leave the network cable plugged in and connected to the mains (I worked for years in an electronics company and even if the machine is off there is always voltage in a part of the circuitry). So ... bingo: instead of unplugging the network cable from the wall socket, it will mean that from now on I will unplug it from the macintosh.

As for the mouse cover ... let me have some time to look for the photo ... I'll show you a cover made just for the mouse. I must say unsatisfactory ... but you will judge ;)

Oh I forgot, very soon I will open my ecommerce store and I will sell the covers at a lower price. The site is www.baffo71.com will be active from December 1st.

I'll soon iron a few shirts and will iron the cover as well, remove the creases from shipping.
I would have just leave a slit for the power cable:

The red part should do the trick.
Anyway, doesn't matter, i have mine and bought a left sided power cable now.
