Can I Use a Disk ii on a 512k With a DB19 Adapter? Hear Me Out.

So I recently had a look at this post on Mac GUI and thought to myself couldn't I use my DB19 adapter that came with my Floppy Emu to make my disk ii work on my 512k? I mean if you look at it Pin one (the arrow) on the ribbon cable and line it up it should theoretically work, right? I have below the pinout for the Macintosh 128k, 512k(e), and Plus (below the photos) I just want to ask before I end up breaking something.

probably not, i don't think the 512 was able to use the Apple II drive at all (thinking about it, the drive was intended to be used in the prototype)

Why are you willing to do so anyway ?

The Mac wouldn't know what to do with it; the Disk II needs the computer to control it since it doesn't have any internal processor of its own. If you need to read 5 1/4 Apple II disks on a Mac, you would likely need a IIe card with the Disk II connected to that, and then run it through the IIe emulation on the Mac.

Was thinking about this one, the Twiggy idea came after, if you look closely at the Macintosh frame, you can still see an opening in the metal for the release door.

So hypothetically if one was to make an adapter board to connect to the DB19 with and other DB19 I could then somehow wire in the ROMs? Or PROMs for the disk ii card? I just think there’s got to be a way to get it to work without paying $600 for a iie card.

The IIe card is a complete Apple II in a single add-on card, but you will need an appropriate Macintosh to use it (as you will need peripherals to make it work)

The IIe card is a hardware emulation board

But as said previously, the Macintosh is not able to handle Apple II files on its own, nor handle the Apple II drive (and keep in mind that the Apple II also needs another card to handle the drive, the drive is not connected directly to the Apple II)

Oh yes, I have seen that one, you're absolutely right.

Different CPU architecture, different OS completely. This isn't going to work.
