Imac G3 CRT flickers and clicks every 15 mins and when turned off sizzles

Is this normal?

Thanks.

P.S: I have another Imac G3 coming so if the CRT is on its way out then I have another one coming.

EDIT: I am not sure if it was me hearing things or if it really did sizzle.

Flyback transformer going bad ?  Power Board needs recapped I am sure.  Not sure on the sizzling sound.  If its more a buzzing I would think Flyback again.

Could it be because it has been in a cold place for a while?

Also sometime soon I have another one exactly like this one so hopefully the 2nd one is better.

High voltage power supply is going bad. Common failure for CRT monitors. Very common for iMacs to have arcs as they get older (it's very bad on the whole computer to keep letting it arc. Buy a known good high voltage analog power supply for your iMac and swap it out.

Where would I find one of these?

Slot load or tray load iMac?

I had a Rev. A Bondi Blue tray load about 7 years ago.  The flyback was on its way out, and it would do the snapping every 10-15 minutes thing.  I replaced the flyback (6174Z-1003G) and that fixed the problem.

If you have a tray load, that could be your problem.  They were notorious for flyback failure.
