PowerMac G5 7,3 MacOS 10.4 nstall disk

I just got my hands on a PowerMac G5 7,3, it has MacOS 10.5 on it, i'm looking for the MacOS 10.4 for this computer, I've tried all over to get a working copy, but been unable to get it going.  I need to run classic MacOS 9 on this system, for older software i want to run on it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is a 7,3 a PCI-X or PCIe G5? Any PCI-X G5 can use Tiger 10.4.0 install disks but a PCIe might require 10.4.2 or higher. In that case, there's a DMG of 10.4.6 out there you can use for installing Tiger.

I'm not sure which one it is,  The DMG you mentions does not work on it.  I run into kernal panics wit the DMG and the retail disk.

Hmm, that's very strange. I installed 10.4 via a 4CD set on mine just fine and installed 10.4.6 on an iBook G4 that demanded 10.4.2 or above from the 10.4.6 DMG.

I'll look again when I finish the downloads, I browsed Mac Garden for the 2005/PCIe (which if I searched correctly should be what the 7,3 is) install disks and couldn't find them.

10.5 would be a slam dunk on that machine, but wouldn't run classic.

If you can swap that machine, or find something else to run whatever you need in Classic, that's what I'd do -- 10.5 on that G5 will run well and will make much better use of that hardware than any Classic app will.

This is still, I realize, not what you asked, but any software that runs well on a G4 on OS 9 will probably run better as a newer version on a G5, especially those last-gen ones, especially-2 if it happens to be a Quad.

Will retail 10.4 work on it? I was pretty sure that’s what it came with.

I mis-Googled before:

The 7,3 is an AGP model from June 2004 originally shipping with 10.3.4, so both the 10.4.0 and 10.4.6 retail discs should work.
