Hello 68kMLA!
It's my first post here; I've been a long time Mac lover since I was a kid; I've had old Macs come and go, at one point I had a whole collection. I ended up loosing a bunch of them in an unfortunate moving mixup - it's a long story, but hey, I'm reviving my hobby with an fresh new Mac Plus off of ebay. Ok, not really new... you know what I mean. It's probably not the cheapest or most resourceful way of going about the whole process, and not quite in the spirit of liberating some older mac in horrible condition, but it's better than nothing. I don't plan on going crazy and getting a million old Macs again, but I certainly want to have fun with this one... my new rule is, I'm not buying anything I don't have room for on my desk.
I also got a floppy emu, and I'm using it as a HDD now. It would be nice if I could daisy chain it with the internal floppy drive, which apparently may be possible (?) (there was that one post on BMOW) but I'm too busy to figure it out right now. Instead, I got a old floppy case to put it in.
I also went crazy getting a nice System 6 disk image ready; I made a bunch of wallpapers using hyperdither, and spent hours going through my old disk image and software archives, as well as software-downloading spree looking for ints and extensions to customize System 6 like I've never done before. I'm pretty happy with how that turned out, and it was a pleasure to be able to just take the disk image I set up in Mini vMac and immediately use it on the Plus! All I need now is to get it to network somehow, even if it's just as a terminal to my MacBook or something. I happen to already have an Asante-talk ethernet adapter lying around; I plan to figure out exactly how to set that all up in the coming weeks.
This seems like a fairly active place and probably a good place to start getting a bit more involved in the vintage mac community.
