  1. I think I figured this out, somehow while mucking around inside my 840AV, I seem to have smeared arctic silver on a few of the PSC chip's pins. Cleaned all the chips in the area with alcohol, and it works again. *whew*
  2. Well F&@# me....This appears to have stopped working all of a sudden. When I opened the case, everything looks normal except the heatsink is loose. Dunno if it's supposed to be that way. I have a 33 Mhz 68LC040 I can try and swap out to see if the CPU died. Or maybe it's the memory?
  3. Hey does anyone have one of these???
  4. Thanks equill. I checked macmetex, doesn't seem to have it listed, I'll email him. I need one of these, it seems: http://www.applefritter.com/images/adapters-10102_640x480.jpg
  5. Yaaay, I have always wanted one of these. I have a question though. I am hesitant to put this in my IIsi. Last time I added an accelerator card to a IIsi, I fried it. I vaguely remember there being some difference between the IIsi and other II's that prevented you from using certain cards. Any ideas on this? I'd love to get this up and running in my IIsi. I have the following: Dual PDS adaptor Radius Pivot Adaptor with two PDS slots (neither slot has any indication it is other than a PDS slot) I am guessing neither of these will help me. Since accelerator cards I've owned b
  6. Yes, many Ethernet cards included this socket (though not including the chip).
  7. This might interest you, this person seems to be selling FPU's: http://cgi.ebay.com/50-Mhz-FPU-68882-Amiga-1200-cards-Blizzad-GVP-Apollo_W0QQitemZ310149532946QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Computers_Vintage?hash=item48365a4d12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1234|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
  8. No, I am sorry, it isn't mine...just thought it'd be useful. There were 225 Mhz versions. I found it hard to tell the difference between the 225, 250, and 275 ones. I had a 300 Mhz one once, and it overheated a lot.

  10. hehehe, I have a MC68851 in my desk drawer. With the golden cap removed. I also might have a PLCC 68882, but i don't know the speed. There is a 20 Mhz one currently in my IIsi, I might have another like it. I'll check.
  11. After suffering with a Mac Plus from 1988 to 2005 (Yes it is cute now, back as a kid growing up and seeing everything pass by me this blew chunks) I cannot remember ever being happier to see any Mac than my family's old Performa 6300CD. Yes looking back they sucked. But after years of using the Plus with a tired old 20 MB external drive, (which had lots of games I could never play, like Solarian, and other color only or 32 bit only games) the day we finally got the 6300, I hooked it up to the ol' SCSI port, and was knocked off my feet. The funny thing is my parents almost bought a 6200CD, a
  12. Gary_W, do you live in the Boston area? I thought I was holding it down solo in Beantown. Edit: nevermind it says right in your tag where you're from. DOH.
  13. wait...what? Do you mean you were able to get this? I didn't get that.
  14. I suppose it's subjective which is better, but as far as rarity goes, 840AV's aren't really that hard to find, generally. Mine is nice because of its condition. But I have never seen a 512e or a TAM, personally.

So I hit the North Shore last night and grabbed some stuff. Nothing too crazy: 6100/60 max ram, no hard drive, dirty case 6100/60 ? ram no hard drive, dirty case, yellowed, missing tab on back 6100/60AV with HPV card and Some form of Sonnet accelerator, maybe g3, max ram, slightly yellowed case, missing cd bezel because cd burner installed Performa 636 CD, in good shape, hdd needs replacement, dusty as hell but works fine. (Note, this unusual variant of the Q630 series has only one ram slot?!) A IIsi, 17MB ram, with a goofy PDS adaptor, that seems to have a built in ethernet card, and
  16. Whoops...sorry. Me = lazy today. I did search, and lo, there was knowledge!
  17. You guys may have heard of this dude before, Herb Johnson? Apparently he has a bunch of cool and semi rare stuff for sale, including 6100 Nubus Adaptors, which I just asked about ordering from him: http://www.retrotechnology.com/herbs_stuff/m_nubus.html
  18. I don't generally misplace stuff like that. The only thing I can think of is that I recently lost my car to a bad driver, and they totaled it and took it away. I very rarely would leave the camera in the center console if I brought it with me to do nature shoots, so it may have disappeared that way, but.....slim chance.
  19. Yes. Tact. WTF? His camera is missing. Get off his back already. It's not like he has any kind of urgent need to upload pictures of old gear for a bunch of geeks to look at 1 or 2 times. Heh...thanks for the first comment. The second comment however...... You must not know me too well. All I can say is as soon as I have a camera I am going to post so many pictures of this thing that you won't even be able to load the page.
  20. Guys, it says clearly a few posts ago, my camera is MIA. I generally annoy people by posting like 4,293 pictures of every chip in every electronic gadget I own, this is the first time I got told I didn't post enough....LOL! My camera is (or WAS) a Canon SD600. I wish I knew where it was....
  21. I disagree with the notion that certain OSes are meant for certain Macs, especially concerning II series and 6 only. I never liked System 6, it sucked pretty much from day one. Add that to the fact that 7 runs fine on most II's, and you have me happily running 7.6.1 on my IIsi and IIci. I consider running 6 on most Macs but the 68000's to be crippling them.
  22. I do not have a camera....as soon as I find mine or can borrow another I'll take pics. The machine has 64 MB of memory.
  23. Hey can/should I install OS 8.0 on this? Or do you guys think it would be too slow? I got 7.6.1 on it now, and it seems very fast.
  24. Ahh, OK. I was missing the Apple Video extension. This Mac has built in TV in, given the S-VIDEO ports on the back. It's working now. I was able to play a DVD into it, and save the video.
  25. So I have been playing with this thing (Sorry guys the camera is still missing, which sucks because that's like $250 misplaced.) What do I need to do to get the TV in working? It's got 7.6.1 with the AV extension and apple tv thingy, and monitors extension. What else do I need?
