I got it working w/ help from MAF...

EVERYONE WHO IS ON OS X SHOULD USE THE COMMAND LINE VERSION

There isn't any scary UNIX stuff involved - you can get dock apps that do it all for you, and it is about twice as fast - I used to do units in about 24 hours, now they are about 14. Seriously, lose the GUI version.

Now then, there's a little something that's been bothering me for a while. I certainly don't want to criticize our renowned and powerful SETI leader, bigsadhu (Renard1), but the goal of our group as stated on the SETI@home website seems a little...weird. Can we change it? Does anyone mind?

Eh??? Whats wrong with wanting the world to be dominated by 68k macs? Better than having it dominated by Microsoft I reckon. However, if a majority wants it changed, I'm open to suggestions.

I heartily agree re: the Command Line client. Blows the GUI one out of the water... 'specially if you've got a DP G4, because you can run two clients simultaneously. Setidockling is a great way to manage your crunching on OS X.

Cheers!

I thought one of the points of seti at home was to show off to yourfriends that your comp was doing something scientific?

Not any more. They dropped 68k support after version 3. One of the very few platforms not supported :(

Some folks have had trouble getting the OS X CLI version of SETI running properly.
There are some clear and detailed instructions on how to do it on the Macnn Team Seti site <a href=http://team.macnn.com/seti/installc.phtml> here </a>.

Of course at step 10 you want to <a href=http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/cgi?cmd=team_join_form&id=141048> join the 68KMLA team </a>rather than theirs...

Cheers!

Nah. ghzDP, but its only running OS 9, so not exactly blowing out those units.

I've got a better setup here though... 2 dual 887s, 5 g4 500s, an iMacg4 700 and a half dozen jellybeans of various colours. Plus there's an X-serve arriving in a couple of weeks. Plenty of free cycles to harvest amongst that lot!

Cheers!
