I've heard this before,and i dont think this was the answer then , but it DOES make sense:

The man is a ceveman. He was killed during the iceage, either by being smothered or crushed by the ice or simply from freezing. Scientists found him frozen in a chunk of ice, and were transporting him by plane/helicopter, when they dropped him, and the block melted. Am i right?
