Oh dear oh dear. Another day, another liberation. 3 more 605s and another 475 have been added to the rapidly growing stacks of the little beggars in my spare bedroom. It really is starting to remind me of the famous Star Trek episode... what starts off as one small, cute little creature rapidly multiplies until it and its siblings are filling every spare cranny on the ship.Unfortunately, LML has other ideas of what the space could be used for....so I'd like to re-iterate my previous offer. Anyone who is willing to pay freight can have as many LCs and 605s as they like. All come with 10 Base T ethernet, at least 12 meg RAM (most have 20), and a minimum 160 meg HDD (most have 250s and a couple are even larger). They all appear to be in amazingly good condition, with just a few dust stains on the cases. Roll up roll up! Everyone gets a prize! Cheers! Ok, I just need something that I can use to access the net with and play games. A Quadra 605 (this is a Quadra 605 right?) seems to be a good choice. If only shipping to the US from Aus isn't too much. _________________ HotLineServer: scchicago.dynodns.net Website: http://scchicago.dynodns.net MyForumOnDelphi: http://forums.delphiforums.com/scchicago NOTE:HL AND HTTP SERVER ARE ONLY AVAILIBLE WHEN I'M ONLINE AIM:scchicago87 Yahoo!IM:scchicago

Well, we can do it, but its not going to be cheap. Depending on how fast you want it, freight to the US is going to cost from US$22 up to US$50 per machine (based on a weight of 8.8lb from everymac). I'm happy to send as many as are required, however I have a feeling the costs involved may prove to be a limiting factor Let me know if you're still keen. Cheers! if they're going into a landfill anyway, at least yank all the mobos/RAM/VRAM, internal cabling and PDS NICs! a box of that stuff would certainly be worth the freight, maybe if you put LML to work unloading all the rest of that stuff on eBay aus she can turn a pile of that crap into a shopping spree. she might get just a lil'less luddite if that worked out! are those SCSI HDDs worth anything down under? i thought there was a shortage, or was that just the gig+ drives? dunno, keeping all the electronics out of the landfill would be ecologically correct even if it's not 68kMLA endorsed activity on anything but an emergency basis. IMHO, anyway! jt ™. .

that's the heaviest, bulkiest part, and the small size of the drives would make shipping them cost-ineffective. that's why they should stay in aus along with the FDDs and shells!one big box of the best of the goodies to be mailed out for distribution here is the only thing that makes any sense to me. there are potential hacks and lots of LCs, LCII's and III's in the North American contingent of the MLA that could use a microquadra board, but the bulky heavy crap wouldn't work as far as i can see. jt ™. . get ahold of B and get one of those microquadra boards and some drives! <pedantic father of teenager mode> (you've just gotta come up with a pitch that will make sense from tha PAF point of view. some kinda crap about saving the environment, money, the chance of a lifetime maybe . . . ;) don't swear about the PAF, they just want what's best for you, it's just that you gotta approach it from their perspective, kiddo!) </pedantic father of teenager mode> that's about what i figured about the drives, ~coxy. that's why i suggested that LML get exposed to (hooked on!) collecting and distributing 68k swag! Well, the drives I've seen so far range from 160 to 500 mb, with most being 250s. All Apple/Quantum branded except one ugly, noisy little Fujitsu.I gotta say though, the idea of breaking down perfectly good 68ks for use as organ donors kinda rubs me the wrong way. On the other hand... even that's a better fate than ending up in a landfill. What sort of interest do we have in individual parts? Drives, mobos, PSUs, NIC cards etc? (~Coxy's mooted 21-drive 950 sauna-heater noted). Nice idea about hooking LML Trash... but in vain I fear. The only time she'll show any interest will be the moment the last one goes out the door... and then its guaranteed! Maclover5... what is your location? Seems a shame to have you stuck on your LCIII with all these 475s sitting here... Maybe a quick switcheroony would fall under the PAF radar? And Scchicago... I think you might have gotten the figures mixed up on your postal quote... The AusPost site quoted me 44 to 100 AUD... thats US$22 to $50. Still kind of steep for an LC I know... but far cheaper than US$100! Cheers! MacMoose, you're going to 68k heaven . Aussie post quotes AU$116 for seamail and AU$150 for Economy Airmail... thats US$58 or $75... not sure in Canadian. This is based on a weight of 4 kg per mac, pluc an extra 1kg for packaging, so I guess it might have to be adjusted a wee bit depending on the final package weight. Everybody needs some "feets" in their collection. I agree the 605 is one of the more desirable machines. You can change out the cpu for a full FPU. It takes those nice scuzzies and has a small footprint on your desktop. It has enough juice to run all the pre-PPC software. But of course the best thing are those big feets:)
