Well, here's what I'll do.

If Trash80 wants the Power Mac 7200 system I want, I will take in replacement the 7200 logicboard and a 5400 logicboard.

If Trash doesn't want the full 7200, you can have the other 5400.

The reason why is because I have a Power Mac 5260 I would lik to upgrade to a secondary backup system to my G4 B&W.

Ok, you totally lost me. Do whatever, i was just curious. I"d take it, but I also don't want to mess with trash since he made this possible, so i'm cool with it. Let the good times roll, and Ti's truck wheels roll faster!!

whassup? no news yet! bleh!

dunno what all the talk is about splits, i thought we were staying with what was listed from the beginning and sorting things out when we determined what we really had in hand. i think any unclained loose mobos are going to need to go into empty cases. i sure hope nobody gets dissapointed to badly.

wait 'n see!

OK This cost me a horrible sore back, $50, and h@ll. I can say that the keyboard is real and I got it here, as for Captains Power logic its not there, here is the story. All of the things I got are prototypes in some way mostly the boards and comps, of this belowed to the creater of Firewire, yes him no kiddin. He took most this from Apple and was messin around for them, I grabbed my toys already a G3/233 Desktop, 6400, and mini tower. All the cases have motherboards, there are many scsi cables, ethernet, ahh all sorts, I will report ASAP when I rest everything that I have.

Although TiMac says the PowerExpress board is not here, I disagree. Here is the picture of the real board (shown on AppleFritter), and the board that TiMac took a picture of.

http://homepage.mac.com/captainz/PEx_maybe.jpg

http://www.applefritter.com/prototypes/pex/motherboard.jpg

There are only 2 differences I see.
1) There are 2 chips missing in the lower left corner (receptors are present, but no chip)
2) there is a different connector on the left side of the board, in between the power connectors (one looks like a floppy connector, other an ATA connector)

unfortunately, i think you are both right, that IS the board, but the PLCC sockets are almost certainly for the missing ROMs.

it's still wait and see as to whether it will function with anything we can get our hands on as replacements . . .

No. Not ATA floppies. Close though. A little known secret about beige G3s is that if you are good at soldering, there are solder pads where you can solder on a PC floppy connector, and plug a PC floppy drive into your Mac. Prototypes had the connector, which would explain what that socket on the PEx mobo is.

If you do get a prototype board, then how do you know it will work with the MacOS?

Heh ok gang, we hit more gold than we thought. Its not just the PEX, from waht i have heard from TiMac, it is close to everymachine being a prototype. External ultra scsis and PEX(m) are just a few of the things we (cap z, timac, and i) have talked aboot) i hope one of them that knows more pops in and lists details. I'm practically wetting myself over this!

hey gang! time to bring the discussion in off IM and do it in the thread. there are a lot more comrades than just the consortium members that've jacked this thread to 7 pages.

i'd appreciate it if the discussion were done here myself,
BECAUSE I DON'T DO IM!!!!!!

WTF are you doing blabbering on IM????

reporting on what you're discussing on IM is not the way to document this event. make sure the discussions take place HERE and they will automatically go down in the annals of the 68kMLA!

in this "grizzled warrior's"(crotchety old coot's) opinion, of course!

I'm trying trash, but seeing how TiMac is too busy actually going through stuff, i can only get details here and tehre and he certainly doesnt have enough time to post in here. So i gues sim stuck being eth messenger, woohoo! hehe Nothing new yet but he is starting to dive into the 64/500 cases. Also, im thinking we may need to "reorganize" what we want. Many specs on some machines are going to be far bettter or worse for certain individuals. Just a thought.

tell Ti to SLOW DOWN and do his typing in here! we'll all definitely need to see ALL the details so its much more important to get everything laid out in the open if there needs to be any adjustment of the spoils.

a quick outline of a report on each box, mobo and large item seems to be in order. they can be edited later to flesh out the rough outline. i'll pretty up the formatting, spelling and grammar of the reports to save Ti time and effort.

it might actually be a good idea to have a second thread that is limited to the reports on what we've got, but the running commentary seems like more fun to me.

whatcha think troops?

Confusion Alert!

I was just talking to 2 people on AIM. "Snipes821" and "Brend724".

Snipes821 was offering up to $4000 for my share of the auction. (No, I won't sell out). He claims to have gotten information for "THE" sources, which means nothing to me. He knew next to nothing about anything, and claims to live in a town roughly 10 minutes away from me. He is an AOL user, but I could not identify any information beyond that. He isn't to bright... he doesn't live in an area that is known for being THAT rich

Brend724, I suspect is the same person, looking for more personal info. She is also an AOL user. Claiming that she had friends that said that I was hot, I knew right off the bat that this was a setup. (If you knew what I looked like, "hot" is not the word to describe me.)

Coinsidently, both of them seems to have to go offline at roughly the same time.

If any of you recieve an IM from these 2 users, be very cautious. They will probably try to scam you out of the parts.

On a related note, roughly half the main systems have been partially or fully identified. So far, 2 prototype systems have been identified . More still to come from TiMac...

Hey, you're a Steve Jackson fan? Cool, I used to be really into GURPS back in the day. I even wrote a GURPS campaign based on the ill-fated sci-fi flop, Cherry 2000. You gotta admit that flick had RPG written all over it!

I also still have the Illuminati board/card game around here...somewhere...

RPG gaming is one of my many secrets, i've been playing off and on for years with a small group of people. Even my parents don't know. gurps and star fleet battles, which isn't exactly a rpg are my two favorites. I just got book called transhuman space. It's sorta cyperpunk and space in the year 2100. I never have time to play anymore, but the books are still fun to read.

As a side note, the star fleet battles rpg prime directive that came out years ago is being re-released using the gurps engine! (http://www.starfleetgames.com/prime/) If there are star fleet battles fans here, i'd like to talk to you sometime.

I've played and have tons of SJ Games.

If this wasn't completely off subject then i don't know what could be. sorry about that.

Everything with a (*) I call, boy I hope this is good for you guys, a little info, the guy was super cool! He was telling me how he lived next to Woz for liek 2 years, meet Steve Jobs and knew where him and woz live! He was goni take me but he had to work but I got directions, super guy, told me everything came from his friend who was the creator of Firewire, he got the stuff and most was just prototype stuff he was working on, the boxs even indecate that the stuff inside the boxs where never to leave Apple Computer, I did go to Apple btw it was soo cool there everyone walking with a TiBook, but I swear they are tight on security the whole place is gated within the work space so you could walk around the building I acted dumb and walked into the main part the like one where hte huge rods and stuff above you are, before gettin kicked out, u need a Apple ID to get in and they wouldn't take the one I got on Apple Support page I did get to go to the Apple store and see the like System 7 theme stuff all around, I looked in some windows and one I saw the MacWorld Mac award, you know the one with the guy holding a SE above him, it was real so it was cool and I was amazed on how confortbal they work and relaxing it is I didn't want to leave.
I even brought my SE SuperDrive so I could get is signed by Jobs! But that was a no go, Apple is huge they have like 4 seperate buildings and such, I got pictures of the street "Infinate Loop" and stuff before the secruity could see me, I bet they do that cause the whole thing with Bill Gates, you know what I am talking about if you saw Pirates Of The Silicon Valley Well hope that is enough information I am very tired still and sore from lifting, if you need more information or pictures tell me and I would be happy to get more info for you, later, enjoy!

Thanks Penguin for the picture hosting!

My head just exploded.
I'm getting the 6240! Does the TV tuner work? Did you find any RAM sticks?
I claim 2 keyboard/mice sets, any 68-pin RAM (or any ram that would work in the 6240), and 1 CD-ROM drive.
I'll put a little more in my MO if necessary. This is so cool!!!
