Hey candyPunk, you can have the 6100 that they saved for me, as long as the 6400 works. I really only have room for one. Also, may I have the Apple Design keyboard? Any leftover mice?

Ok, unfortunately there is no guarantee that any of the machines will work. So I hope you aren't dissappointed if nothing works.

Second of all, i'm totally lost as to what the plan is exactly. Has there been stuff discussed while i wasn't around or is it still up in the air? I'm not mad or anything, just really confused. I'll pay my money as soon as i know what it is i'm getting and that i'm sure that i'll be getting it. Penguin knows what it is that i'm looking at, so just let me know when it's been decided. I don't want to be greedy, but i also don't want to pay for stuff i thought i was getting and end up not getting it, you know what i'm saying?

t-bird said to hold tight until he emails an address for us to send the money.his dad's paypal has more than enough juice for the deal.

as far as i know, the info on the link above is the deal as it stands and all the other misc. info is pretty much here in the thread!

Well, it's a minivan. Seats fold down, come out, etc. Not tiny. I bet we could fit it all if we rearranged some boxes. If they'd agree, it's free (maybe gas $). To whomever suggested a 6100 for me: sorry, I don't really need one of those. Anything else, by chance?

Interesting thing I noticed about at least one of the 5400 logic boards.

Here is a normal one.

Yeah! Max out the RAM, stick in a decent size IDE HD and a G3 upgrade, and replace the drive bezel with one from a 5200, and you got yaself a StealthG3™!

that funy 540 board thing is most likely subject to a right-angle connector... for the purposes of useing a processor updrade card that's been built by this company.

remember, this is a chip design and internal pats company that these Macs came from. e're bound to find stuff that NONE of us have seen, because they are production models and tests.

Actually, as I recall, they used the right angle connector for the PCI slot. Remember, the 5400/5500 were PCI based logicboards, where as the 5200/5260 were non-upgradeable NuBus boards (yes, there was no NuBus slot, but it is the same architecture of 68K systems)

Penguin: I'm sending over $30 right now, and I will send over an additional $20 in a few days. Unfortunetly, I requested money in 2 batches, so I have to wait for the other one to come in.

I have just realized that this single thread, has single handedly eclipsed every other thread in size (by roughly 3-4 pages!). It currently has more posts in it that the entire Apple II section of the forum!

Im getting a little nervous guys.

I couldnt remember the exact specs of my 9500 so I started poking around. It turns out that they had 12 ram slots and 6 pci slots according to everymac.com and lowendmac.com...And the made a multiprocessor version.

Has anyone seens a 9500 motherboard lately so you can set my mind at ease and tell me that the PEX motherboard pictured is not actually just my 9500 motherboard?

And while im worrying LEM said that the 9500 shared its case with a 9100 and the listing says 9100 in it...but Ive never even heard of a 9100.

Then again its almost 6 am and I havent gone to sleep yet so hopefully Im just being paranoid.

Edit: Looks more and more like the paranoia theory is correct. A big difference seems to be that the 9500 doesnt have onboard the mobo pictured clearly does.
Now if anyone can answer the question of if any other computers went into that case....

But even if there isnt a motherboard inside the 9500 at all its all good. we all knew there was some risk involved in the begining...

Im STILL pee your pants excited over the 4 bids in the last minute of the auction :-D

Don't worry, cyberwolf... you are just paranoid.

The 9500 has 12 RAM slots, as you mentioned, and so does PEx and the 9600 logicboards. Here is the difference:

| | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | | |

This is a Power Mac 9500 logicboard's RAM slots, in ASCII. I know this because I owned a 9500 for a short time, and I looked at it's logicboard in detail.. You see 8 slots to one side, 4 to the other, and a smaller L2-cache slot in between them. I think this falls similar to the 9600's design.

| | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | | |

This is the layout on PowerExpress. Notice: The RAM slots are grouped in sets of 10 and 2, where as on all other production boards, they were grouped in sets of 8 and 4. There is also no L2-cache slot dividing the RAM slots.

That is an error on the seller's part. There is no such thing as a Power Mac 9100. There is however, a Workgroup Server 9150, which is in the same style case as the Quadra 950.

The seller really only got the 6100 right, and there are only one of those! Even more proff he was just getting rid of this stuff, better for us!

TiMac said he can go out and pick up the stuff on monday also. We all need to thank his mum for being so cooperative (even tho no PAF, she has still helped alot!) Looks good everybody, things appear to be falling in order quite well.

Breaking News!

I am *set* to leave tomorrow and pick up the load! The only thing that could stop it is that not one of the 5 Enterprise locations have cargo vans which is not likely, I will report tomorrow night, then that night will get pictures of *most* of the stuff including lots of details of everything.
