I have a request, I know this sounds absurb but kind of a beging. I have been given an offer for a really nice computer in trade for a 6400 of ours, now there is one left since Da Penguin just wanted the av stuff of it, I really need a good computer, since my iMac is almost dead, I really need this, and this is a good chance for me to get something nice, so if anyone doesnt have a problem with I would like to take one of the 6400's. Btw too Trash, I need you to email me what you want and your address so I can get a shipping quote, whoever else too that goes for.

In 10 years the computer will be obsolete and you'll be pissed off that you let the 6400 go

Nah cause this is very easy to upgrade, and that Performa is not worth that much. I would be much happier cause this computer has DVD and a CDRW.

Nothing wrong with a PC, as long as it's not a Compaq and it's not running Windoze.

Is this the box you wanted to run OpenStep on?

this is sorta bad timing, but i thought i'd mention this little tidbit that came up today. A friend of mine and I have been pondering different things to fix the possible lack of roms. Today we came up with a really good one.

Ok, to our understanding xpostfacto just bypasses the rom for the older machines and creates an openfirmware environment. When you start into os9, there is the b&w happy mac screen, where as when you boot into osx there is the color happy mac screen. Well, what we were thinking was what if you installed on a different legacy mac, osx and then swap that drive to one of these powerexpress boards. Of course without accelerated video, it would be slow, but atleast you could check things out.

This was just total guessing, but with some mild understanding of what's going on. Thought i'd send this along to the group here.

Well if you read that again, maybe you will understand. The $20 on my part was made up for the driving and housing of these for 3 weeks, and not to mention the $50 I had to put in myself to rent the van, that making $70 I put in. Now what I am saying is that there are 2 6400s, a 6100, and a empty 6xxx Performa case that no one has called and seems as no one has already, just asking for 1 more doesnt seem bad since im not fighting with anyone to take it, and plus most army memebers are on or near the east coast and don't want to pay the shipping on this monster. Just a thoght...

We've already bent the rules for you once i do believe, lets not try it again as it got EVERYone WAY too upset.

thats a load of B.S. TI, i forwarded the $20 contribution you couldn't make as a loan to you the last time you needed to get a decent machine and i sent in $25 toward the Van in addition to my contribution of the base amount.

the rental of the van was supposed to be covered by the consortium with the cost to be determined and added in to the shipping costs IIRC.

add to that the fact that you volunteered to do the pickup and distribution, refused help when offered, knew i had somebody else who had offered to do the same thing you're complaining about for just the cost of shipping as a favor and that you insisted on doing it all by yourself.

did i miss anything? it's all there in the previous pages of the thread AFAIK.

what happened with paypal? according to the info on your page i thought we shluld have more money in the fund than the bid ended up being in the auction. you did get my MO for my contribution, Ti's $20 and the $25 for the van, didn't you?

i had assumed the overage was being applied to the van rental.

what's going on, who didn't pay?

This is horrid, I could so take all this move, change all my information and sell it all and make a killing, the PEx will house my G3 ROM that I am buying from a friend, my G3 400 upgrade, and my ATI PCI video card. That is my new machine, so just cause I want the 6400 nwo you want it trash, that is bullshiz, I don't know if I should just do what Graphite told me alone along, this is what happens to me when I am nice, and patient? so be it...

Ti, just think things thru, i am exceedingly dissapointed that i am not receiving any of the extra PEx boards in that lot. it was the unexpected extras that i claimed in lieu of one of the high end boxes for which i think it is clear that i expected to choose after everyone else in the consortium claimed ONE BOX EACH! Z and i were the first two in and both stated that multiple claime were inappropriate on the first page IIRC. it didn't work out that way and i really should have insisted on it, i'm living with that dissapointment, i think you should stop counting other people's shares and grabbing for more. i supported you in getting "something extra" for your efforts when it was CLEARLY not a part of the deal. i stated UNEQUICOCVALLY that if there is ANT PEx system that works, it shoould belong to Z. if you, or anyone else ends up with the only board that's functional, i would still expect Z to get it.

i am absolutely disgusted with this whole situation and i'm thru with it for now.

think it thru, Ti. there is nowhere you can go on the face of this earth where people can't find out how you've behaved here. do you really want to come off as unethical? i sure wouldn't, think about it.

i don't need the whole 6400, if there is a loose 6360/6400 or better yet a 6500 board, i can use that to upgrade my kid's road-apple instead. if i end up with any one of the extra PEx boards, even without a box for it, i'll be thrilled.

do me a favor and make sure the loose 6XXX boards work in the desktop performa case or in that 6400 tower case before you trade it away. how many extras did we end up with? if ANY of the boards are 50 MHz 6500's, IT'S MINE! i'll get info on how to tell them apart if you need it. even if it's the one in the 6400 case, just swap it out, your friend isn't expecting a 6500 board. how does that sound?

Wont you people just KNOCK IT OFF! We already made a list as best as we could see fit, now lets damn well follow it! Plain and simple, its in paper. As for Paypal, everyone did pay (i just cant do math, and forgot marchie was a scavenger and not paying till later IF he DID take something, so that was off $20, on top of that Paypal took the money out of my emtpy checking account rather than the credit card account, 3 times. ($30 each time = +$90 I had to pay) So all that plus my bad math came out to....$165 i do believe, i have it written down somewhere) ANYhue, I'm not even getting a working machine outta this and do u see me complaining? We all came into this deal knowing we may only get beige plastic, lets leave it at that and stop getting greedy.

(Edited for PS)

I though you said in the past that there are a total of 4 PEx boards (2 PowerExpress in 9600 cases, 1 PowerExpress outside of a case, 1 PowerExpress Manhattan). The third tower has a 9600 motherboard inside I think. Please check and make sure.

If this is the case, what we were going to do was send me the PowerExpress Manhattan, the 9600, and the PowerExpress motherboard (without case). I would be able to test the 9600 and PEx motherboards, and then if both works, send the 9600 MB over to Trash (which is much less costly than shipping from California).

As for Da Penguin it is easy for you to say and take just one computer because you have a fing Dual 800, you don't need a fast computer as do I, Captain you are right. I still await my response from Trash about my offer.

No Ti I don't have the 800 as mine, i can only use it on occasion. I was merely stating we ALL shoudnt expect so much. Plus, and i may be shooting in the dark, what are you "needing" this speed machine for? I mean i for one do intensve 3D work and lots of PS and Illustrator work. (I'm not taht good, yet, but its where im headed) All im thinking is that if u provide good reasoning, people may let it go easier. Its worked for me in the past, just kinda throwing thoughts out there. I want to keep this honest and no backstabbing of anyone.
