Hello....
I am new. I am moving to another country soon (I am in the USA now). I sold or gave away all of my Apple computers but for my Color Classic. I am trying to fix it up and speed it up before I leave.
If I would have known about this first, I would have bought it and installed it:

But I ended up buying and installing this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261883919980?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Here is the manual:
http://www.artmix.com/pdffiles/CF_AZTECMONSTER_MN_E_13.pdf
I ran my CC II for about two days using it's old SCSI Fuji SCSI hard drive. I upgraded the software from OS 6 something to 7.5.3. It ran great. I then installed the above STRATOS CF AztecMonster SCSI to CF card. I bought two (one for backup) SanDisk Ultra 4GB, 25MB/s cards. They fit perfect.
I installed the new hardware. My CC comes alive when ever I boot to 3.5 inch floppy. But nothing I have can see the SCSI/CF card. Reading the manual above, it says I need to install 3rd party software to init/format the CF card before it can be seen by any Apple OS software. The 3rd party software suggested is:
FWB HDT
Silverlining
or Drive 7
As the only other working computer I have in my home now is a Windows 7 desktop and a Windows 8.1 laptop, I have been unable to find Windows software that will uncompressed software that I think may work. I have installed 7-Zip and Stuffit Expander. I do have a 3.5" USB floppy drive in my Windows 7 computer. Both Stuffit Expander and 7-Zip failed to make disks that work in my CC. I am using free software (good for 3 more days) that will allow me to format my CF card as well as floppys for apple. It is called "Mac Drive Standard" and it will cost me $50.00 after it expires in about three days. The choices I have are:
1) Mac OS Extended (HFS)
2) Mac OS Extended (HFS+)
3) Mac OS Extended (case sensitive HFSX)
None work.
So unless someone has a better suggestion, I think I need to buy at least one copy of FWB HDT, Silverlining or Drive 7.
Any other suggestions welcome. If yopu have copy to sell, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
