I've been thinking lately about getting my greedy hands on a copy of the new OSX Server for various work-related reasons, but came across a little nugget by accident while researching the Wiki server now built into X Server.
It's entirely possible, it seems, to host a Wiki site on a Mac running classic MacOS: what is needed is a Mac running MacOS; a "Squeak" VM, which is a sort of platform-independent 'applescriptish' virtual machine or environment running on top of (among other OSes) MacOS; "Comanche" as a webserver running on Squeak; and "SWiki" as the Wiki engine (database, I presume), running on Comanche. http://coweb.cc.gatech.edu/ runs on it.
So far as I can gather, "Squeak" was largely the product of Apple software engineers.
Question: Does anyone know anything about this software? It's entirely new to me, and as I am no programmer, some of what I read on the web is "all Geek to me", i.e., beyond my meagre grasp. Greek I can cope with, but Geek, alas, not.
